Yakushi-ji Temple is one of the head temples of the Japanese Hosso sect and one of the Seven Great Temples of Nara. The Tang Dynasty's eminent monk Jianzhen overcame numerous difficulties, including blindness, and successfully traveled east to Japan for the sixth time in 753.
