York, UK | 2-Day Travel Diary 🇬🇧✨
I loved York! Maybe it was the sunny weather and good vibes, but this medieval gem is truly beautiful. Though small (doable in 1 day), I stayed 2 to soak it up slowly. 📍 Must-Do List: 1⃣ York Minster ⛪️ Largest Gothic cathedral in N. Europe – stained glass & carvings = breathtaking! Free for locals; tourists pay (ticket valid 1 year). 💡 XHS hack: Rent/share tickets to save £! 2⃣ Museum Gardens 🌿 Peaceful park with abbey ruins + moody St. Olave’s churchyard. 3⃣ The Shambles 🧙♂️ "Diagon Alley" inspiration! Cobbled, timber-framed, and packed with: HP merch shop ("The Shop That Must Not Be Named") Butterbeer The Potions Cauldron (pretty but just sugary syrup 🍯) York Ghost Merchants 👻 (tiny ghosts! Queue hack: Try their St. Anthony’s Garden branch – better photo ops!) 4⃣ York City Walls 🏰 Free to walk! Best-preserved medieval walls in England. 5⃣ Clifford’s Tower Small hilltop castle (views = okay). 6⃣ National Railway Museum 🚂 FREE! Historic trains + Shinkansen (bullet train) cabin to explore! 7⃣ Rowntree Park Pretty but far – go if you’ve extra time. Verdict: York = history + magic + zero rush. Perfect for wandering, photographing, and pretending you’re in HP. #UKTravel #YorkDiaries #MedievalMagic #HarryPotter #SlowTravel #Wanderlust
