York | A Magical Getaway for Food, Photos & Slow Travel 🪄

York cast such a spell on us that we're still feeling the withdrawal! Here's our chilled 3-day itinerary (no early wake-ups or late nights!): Day 1️⃣: Arrival + Light Exploring 🚄 11:30 AM: Took the 4-hour train from Glasgow to York. 🏨 Malmaison Hotel (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️): £2,200 for 2 nights – 5 mins from the station, facing the city walls, and steps from The Shambles! Rooms were pristine, staff lovely. 🌟 Perk: Skip housekeeping = 2 free £7.5 bar drinks! 🍻 Butterbeer (£4.99) en route. 🍚 Noodle Lane: £32 for two – satay beef noodles, duck blood with chives, egg fried rice. 🍦 Amorino (£5.50): Self-serve gelato flowers! Day 2️⃣: Old Town Feasting & Ghosts 🍚 Ippuku Tea House: Iced mocha latte (smooth!) + chicken donburi (£15.8 👍) > overpriced chicken set (£19.8 👎). 🛍️ York Ghosts: 30-min queue – small (£9), large (£18), special (£20+). Staff were hilariously chatty. 🥞 Krepe (Shambles Market): Truffle crêpe (£9.95) – rich but salty! ⛪️ York Minster: Just chilled in the park (no ticket). 🧀 Alys Bakery: York cheesecake (cinnamon + raisins) – cash = free cookies! 📷 18:30: Sunset photos on the city walls (so close to hotel we napped after 😂). 🍮 The York Roast Co.: Pork wrap with apple sauce (£9) – surprisingly fresh! Day 3️⃣: Check-out + Trains 🚂 National Railway Museum: *10-min detour for entry* (meh). Mini-train to Minster (£5) was cute! 🥪 Shambles Kitchen: "Firework" sandwich (£10) – overhyped & salty. 🍦 Full Moo Ice Cream Boat: 2 scoops (£4.50) – cute boat, average flavors. 🚄 Homeward bound! Verdict: York = whimsy + carbs + ghostly charm. Already planning our return! 👻 #YorkUK #FoodieTravel #SlowTravel #UKGetaway #StudyAbroadLife #MagicalYork
