York just became my favorite city of the year! So much fun packed into one charming, walkable place – and The Shambles truly feels like stepping into Harry Potter! Since we had to go to Manchester for a visa appointment, we made a detour to York – totally worth the 4.5-hour trip from Coventry! Arrived around 2 PM and dove right in with this no-backtracking itinerary: 📍 Alys Bakery York (YO31 7EA) 🍰 THE BEST BASQUE CHEESECAKE EVER! Caramel flavor = EXPLOSION of taste! £4.50 each – worth every penny! ⛪️ York Minster 💒 Where Jay Chou got married! Couldn’t go inside (graduation ceremony 😭), but the exterior is stunning – every church here has its own vibe! 🥪 Shambles Kitchen (YO1 7LX) "Firework" beef sandwich – £10.50 (big enough for 2!). Fireworks last only 30 sec – snap pics FAST! A bit salty but otherwise delicious! 👻 York Ghost Merchants – NEW SHOP (YO1 7PW) Old shop closed Wednesdays; new shop closed Thursdays! Hidden in a cute garden – follow the path to the right! Bought 5 unique little ghosts – all adorable! 📸 Pro tip: Take pics at the photo setup (left side) before checkout (they wrap them after!). 🍺 The Potions Cauldron (YO1 7LZ) BUTTERBEER (around £4) = LIFE-CHANGING! The staff’s fun little "potion ritual" makes it even better! (Way tastier than Universal’s version!) Next door: Harry Potter merch heaven – a must for fans! 🛍️ Bonus: Lots of Jellycat shops along The Shambles – so many cute plushies! Final Verdict: York is cozy, magical, and 100% worth visiting!
