There are many bakeries and cafes in Camperdown, choose any other than the Loaf & Lounge. The staff, are the absolute rudest, stuck up, unfriendly people. I have known of this place for over 10 years, and the very first time I went here, I had the same experience as I do now. The staff have no personality, they’re impatient, staring at you with a deep frown while you’re choosing what you want. They hurry you. The girl I got yesterday was so rude. I feel like putting a big complaint directly to them. If that girl, when she went for the job interview, acted like how she acted towards me and my family yesterday, she would not have got the job. We bought a slice and they didn’t even give us plates when we had to ASK FOR PLATES, as apparently some of their food is ‘takeaway food only’, yet it’s not listed anywhere that we couldn’t eat their food at their facility 🤷🏼‍♀️ (the photo I attached begs to differ 🤔). 2 staff members literally said “Do whatever you want (in an exceptionally rude tone) but it’s not preferred for you to eat the vanilla slice you just bought off us here”. We just spent money at the business but they had the audacity to say we can’t sit and eat it? We asked them why, the reasoning behind it. No answer back! Because there is no justification for such a stupid comment! There was no need for their attitude, they could’ve thoroughly explained in a kind tone what their issue is, and apologised for the inconvenience, but there was no thought of that from any staff member. Back ten years ago, the staff were just as bad. You line up for ages waiting for a staff member to acknowledge you, and finally after they’ve served other customers behind you they pin-pick you last. Always happens here. I hated when local friends wanted to drop in, there’s just bad, negative vibes at the place and it’s EXTREMELY overpriced. There are much cheaper options elsewhere in Camperdown. I will never, ever, step foot into that building ever again, and neither will any of my family or close friends any more. Go look at the other reviews from this place, I found multiple in the last few months having the exact same concerns I have regarding the staff and food. If the girl who served us wasn’t so rude, angry and depressed looking, had some sort of personality, maybe actually greeted us nicely..? Then I wouldn’t of had to write this review. But this was brewing for many years, and it needs to be said how bad they are here. I’ve heard many others in the area comment also on their bad service, overpriced food and how they always choose another place to eat and save this until never. This place needs a fresh take of entirely new staff and their overpriced food revised. Absolutely 0 stars.

Update April 2022. Still first rate baked goods and service despite covid staff shortages. Don't miss out on the delicious Easter buns 1😋😋😋 6 stars! The Loaf and Lounge is a fabulous foodie oasis for travellers and locals. Great coffee ☕☕ The tantalising smell of freshly baked goods will tempt you before you even enter the wonderous dining room. There's a large on-site bakery so everything except the sushi is made on the premises. The freshness is obvious! You will be spoilt for choice with mouth watering pies, quiches, croissants, foccacias and salads. The menu offers some old favorites with extras included - a welcome change for the hip pocket. There's a wide selection of delicate cakes and slices. Make The Loaf and Lounge a regular stop. Spotless bathroom. it 😀😀

I’m pleased I ignored the bad reviews and chose this restaurant for lunch today. The young girl who served us was delightful, we chose to have a pie for lunch, mine being beef and mushroom..✔️my husband chose the scallop pie, it was a bit gluggy, but as I said to him that they are always like that, not sure why they don’t make the sauce creamier. One thing with this cafe there is plenty to choose from for lunch and a great variety of cakes and bread, they even have some pantry essentials. I loved the decor, and if it always this good I would definitely recommend.

Stopped here for drinks and a few bites to eat with the family. It was busy and we were happy to wait as we had heard great things. The lady who took the order was lovely and friendly. We were given a couple of the baked goods on paying and the drinks arrived quickly after. We were waiting on a toastie and almond croissant. After about 30 mins my wife popped in just to query the last 2 items. We didn't want to seem impatient as they were busy. The gentleman gave her the almond thing and went to check the toastie. After another 15 mins I went in to ask about it and the lady making the coffee rudely said "it would be ready when it's ready" and walked off as I tried to explain how long we had been waiting. I waited 5 more minutes until someone else was free and when I asked was told someone had collected it already. I pointed out they had given me a number for the table and no one in my family had collected anything. Was offered a refund but just requested the toastie. It arrived within a few minutes. Nice enough but not really worth waiting almost...

The worst experience I have had at a Cafe in a long time. Firstly this place is expensive, which is fine if the product is good. Not the case. Food was awful. The frittata was so hard it was inediable and was served with a relish that was off. The pie I ordered was solid inside. Dry and flavorless. Everything was over cooked and seemed to have had some kind of solidifying agent added to it...maybe to fill out the ingredients or just poorly made. We were given the incorrect coffee and when I asked the waiter they did not seem to know. Came back and told us they had miss named them and we had each other's. Did not offer to replace. I approached the barrista to clarify if I had soy or not with an (extra shot) and they were very rude and dismissive. No replacement offered again. In the end the soy latte was lumpy and disgusting. The whole meal cost 60 dollars. When I went to use the bathroom there were feces on the toilet bowl under the seat (ended up using the clean public toilets instead). I will never eat here again and will warn others to...
