Al faham mandi at Yemen Mandi is a mouth-watering and aromatic rice dish that originates from Yemen. However, its popularity has spread across the globe and can now be found in various countries, including India. One such place where you can find delicious Yemeni Mandi is in Ettumanoor, a town in the Kottayam district of Kerala, India.
Ettumanoor is known for its rich culinary culture, and Yemen Mandi has become one of its signature dishes. The dish is traditionally prepared using a combination of long-grain basmati rice, tenderized meat (usually chicken or lamb), and an assortment of spices. The key to its irresistible flavors lies in the unique blend of spices used, which typically includes cumin, coriander, turmeric, black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom.
The preparation of Yemeni Mandi in Ettumanoor involves marinating the meat with the spices and allowing it to soak in the flavors for a few hours. The marinated meat is then slow-cooked in a specially designed underground tandoor or clay oven, known as a "tandoor pit." This cooking method imparts a smoky and charred flavor to the meat while keeping it tender and juicy.
Meanwhile, the basmati rice is cooked separately and flavored with aromatic spices. Once both the meat and rice are cooked to perfection, they are layered together in a large serving dish, with the meat placed on top of the rice. This layering allows the flavors to infuse, resulting in a delectable combination of flavors.
Yemeni Mandi is typically served with a flavorful tomato-based sauce known as "Aseer Mandi" and a side of fresh salad or pickles. The dish is usually enjoyed with family and friends, as it is meant to be a communal meal that brings people together.
In Ettumanoor, several restaurants specialize in serving delicious Yemeni Mandi. These establishments have perfected the art of preparing this dish, ensuring that each bite is bursting with authentic flavors. The popularity of Yemeni Mandi in Ettumanoor has attracted food enthusiasts from neighboring towns to experience the unique taste and aroma that this dish offers.
In conclusion, if you are in Ettumanoor and seeking a culinary adventure, do not miss the opportunity to indulge in the mouth-watering Yemeni Mandi. With its flavorful spices, tender meat, and aromatic rice, it is sure to leave a lasting impression on...

I recently visited this restaurant with high hopes of enjoying a satisfying meal, but sadly, my experience turned out to be a complete disappointment.Let's start with the portions. I was shocked at how minuscule the servings were. The chicken piece in the kuzhimandhi which is priced at 160Rs was smaller than a fried chicken piece that you usually eat. When I informed the same to the person at the counter,he reluctanty replaced it after a long verbal battle. The Mandhi rice was strictly average and the piece was super dry and bland.
Finally when I paid the bill, the guy at the counter told me that I did something unreasonable by complaining about the food and started becoming hostile.I told I will pay for the chicken piece he replaced but since he saw other customers listening to the conversation he consoled me to settle the issue and refused to take the money. The person at the counter(seems to be the owner ) need to be taught the basics of customer service. If you are looking to have good Mandhi there are a lot of other restaurants nearby.Avoid this restaurant...
