Lalanu - we went for lunch twice and dinner once. Let’s start with the welcome; very friendly from the waiters Peter and Kevin. I have spent over 2 weeks in Albania and hospitality is not an Albanian strong point, in fact I rarely even got a smile from most waiters, so Peter and Kevin were a refreshing change. Nice music with jazz in the day and funk in the evening both at the perfect volume not to be too loud and intrusive; again a lot of my experience of Albania has been hip hop played at annoying volumes, so Lalanu have also done well here. View over the ruins, big open windows on the first floor terrace with a nice breeze, lovely comfy seats and a really nice atmosphere and decor, more plus points. Most importantly the food; great fresh fruit juices (the watermelon was great), we had some amazing home made chips, some incredible filleted fish and vegetables, some very tasty grilled chicken and also some lovely salads and crispy chicken dippers. I would say probably the best restaurant I ate in during my time in Albania. Only two negatives were firstly that there is no menu. They essentially tell you what is in season and then let you tell them what you want to eat, which is a little confusing and chaotic for me. I don’t go to a restaurant to create my own menu. Having said that, I don’t actually mind not having a specific menu but I would at least like a ‘menu’ explaining that they cook fresh and giving an idea of ingredients they use. Personally I think they could have a menu with their typical or classic dishes on and then have a line saying that they are also happy to cook your suggestions; much less confusing. The other small negative was that on our last night I talked to one of the waiters for a good while (the restaurant was empty); he was fascinating and super smart and gave me an honest insight into Albania that I hadn’t heard from anyone else, but unfortunately it did seem that he got into a bit of trouble for being polite and talking to guests from his grumpy colleagues who didn’t smile at me or my girlfriend the whole evening we were there. All in all highly recommended and I hope you visit and get to talk to Peter and Kevin, both who were absolute gentleman and a credit to...
Read moreWe recently dined at this restaurant, and we were absolutely delighted with the experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and kindness that truly made a difference. Both the young man and the gentleman who served us were fantastic, providing top-notch customer service and making us feel right at home.
We ordered the crab pasta, and I must say, it was one of the best I've ever had. The freshness of the crab and the perfect pasta cooking came together to create a spectacular dish. The presentation was also excellent, and it was clear that great care and dedication went into every detail of the meal.
The restaurant's ambiance was cozy and relaxing, which made our dining experience even more enjoyable. It's evident that this is a place where both the quality of the food and customer service are highly valued. We felt exceptionally well taken care of throughout the entire evening.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. The combination of exquisite food and impeccable service is hard to find, but this place has it all. We will definitely return on our next visit...
Read moreThe best restaurant in the area! We ate here 3 times on our trip to Albania. The food excellent and all at a very reasonable price. Better price than most places we visited. The staff are also really helpful and warm and freindly. The owner even offered to take this photo of us sat in the outside area. The views from the restaurant are amazing. It looks out onto the old historical part of the town. And the sun sets directly over from the restaurant. Beautiful! Free parking is easy to find on the street outside the restaurant. I can't fault this place. Go, you won’t be disappointed! Ps. There is a menu with all the prices on the website. You'll find the link here on...
