Mama Pasta — Restaurant in Antigua

We went to this place for a drink and an appetizer during a tour of the island. I had to use their bathroom as soon as we got there. I waited for the ladies room to be vacant and walked into the bathroom. Before I sat down someone started beating on the door as if the police were trying to knock down the door. I immediately open the door to a male yelling at the top of his lungs at me about not eating his food. I explained to him we had just arrived and I needed to go to the bathroom before we ordered. I pointed out my husband who was enjoying the view. He kept yelling inappropriately at me and then a woman came towards me also yelling at the top of her lungs at me. All of this because I needed to use the facilities before I ordered. I decided to vacate the premises before the situation escalated any further, all the while these two people screaming at me. I’ve been to Antigua before and have never been treated like a rodent. These people don’t deserve anyone’s business. There’s so many other restaurants with great food and wonderful staff. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else! Little do these people know is there was a large group with us that would have been joining us. We left the area immediately. We went to this restaurant because it was convenient and right off of the beach. At first, the male owner was very polite. We ordered pasta we got fettuccine with chicken and seafood with cream sauce. The pasta had absolutely no flavour at all. I don’t even think they put salt in it for the two bowls of pasta. The bill came to $83. That’s absolutely insane for something that you can make for yourself at home for about 20 bucks. There were two of us and when we went to pay we said we wanted to pay separately. I paid cash and then my friend tried to pay card. We didn’t hear the owner when he said if I paid cash she would have to pay cash, so then we said OK we will pay together on one card. When I went to get my card from my table, he yelled across the restaurant in front of all the other customers saying that we are trying to “cause trouble”, then his wife or his partner kept coming from the back asking him what’s wrong and he kept saying nothing but kept scoffing at us and making a big deal. Absolutely disgusting behavior. I would rather spend my money on a main stream restaurant or high-end restaurant then give to this restaurant ever again. We tried to support local, but their attitude is absolutely disgusting. I see good reviews for the pizza but we did not have the pizza so I can’t speak about that, if you go here and they give you attitude you should leave before...

I toured the Long Bay Area and stopped here for a meal by the beach. I waited by the entrance as I saw what appeared to be a customer watching tv by the bar. After 2 minutes and no greeting, I walked in and chose a table. There weren’t any people sitting at the tables and this place was empty. Finally, after about 10 minutes, the woman who had been watching tv (the owner) yelled from her seat to look at the menu. I had actually looked at the menu for a good five minutes while simultaneously looking for an employee. No one came until after she was through yelling. I ordered one drink, paid and left. The place was empty and service was nonexistent . Don’t let the owner’s poor attitude and rude vibes deter you from dining out in Antigua.
