This fiasco began in the Cruise port of Antigua. We asked the driver to take us to Dickinson Bay. The driver insisted numerous times that Runaway Beach was much better and after several minutes of saying we wanted to go to Dickinson and the driver saying this was better, we agreed to just go there instead. The “ah haa” moment was when he walked us into Mystic bar and told older lady behind counter, I brought you some people. This was the moment I realized the driver had an agreement that benefited him to take us to this small boring beach. There is literally NOTHING to do there besides this tiny janky bar. My party of 4 showed up at Mystic bar and we all ordered chairs, and umbrellas. This cost $30pp. Throughout the day we ordered many drinks from the bar and spent lots of money. Come lunch time, I was hungry and ordered lunch. This is when the poor service rating of Mystic bar and grill won it only 2 stars. The older lady behind bar was not especially friendly throughout the day but when I ordered food and the chef had to make changes to my order, she became downright rude and was making dirty faces at me. I ordered Red Snapper. I waited about 10 minutes and the chef came out and informed me that they were out of snapper. The chef asked if I’d like to choose something else off menu. I choose fried calamari. He said that was fine. Then the older lady behind the bar kept saying $5 more plus tax. I had $2 left on me and handed it to her, but told her it was customary to comp the difference since they were out of what I ordered. (I had more money in my bag on the beach that I was going to go get for a tip later) She then wrote me a bill of $5 plus tax. I told her I wasn’t paying the rest. I felt she was rude and it was terrible customer service. I am a good tipper, but this lady lost her tip due to the bad service and rude behavior. The bar itself is nothing great. The restrooms are very dirty and the doors don’t close. The chairs were worn out and in serious need of repair. The peddlers on the beach are annoying. The beach is very pretty, quiet and relaxing, albeit nothing to really do here. The beauty of the beach is the reason it got 2 stars...

Friendly staff, good vibes, great food, ice-cold beverages, a beach and sunset to make you want to come back over and over. If you are in the Runaway Bay, Dickenson Bay, or Fort James Bay, you must stop in. You'll see it'll be hard to leave ;) Cheers 🍻🇦🇬 PS. The Fish Burger, Shrimp in Garlic, Ribs, Cheese Burger and Fries are absolutely delicious and prices are very affordable. $$ We are Canadian 🇨🇦 Army veteran and his...
Read moreExcellent hidden gem that's a must to go to. Visited a few beaches in Antigua , but this one was the best by far. Excellent hospitality and service from all the staff and felt really looked after. Perfect beach vibes and loved how close the sea came in. Also has a pool table . Proper local hospitality. My son had his hair braided by a staff member, and another staff member gave us a lift back to the ship to make sure we made it on time for disembarkation. 10 out of 10. Very highly recommended . Thank you for a...
