We spent the Friday before Easter's night at the Casona del Molino. The experience was fantastic, it is a truly unique place in it being a peña where the music is played spontaneously rather than via a preset show, giving it a very authentic vibe. We ended up bonding and sharimg food and drinks with two local ladies we met in the queue.
About the queue, it is certainly the worst part of the establishment: we got there as soon as we could at around 21:20 (so rather late) and ended up waiting in line for around 2.5 hours before we could get in. There was no way to reserve a table as for the Eastsr week it was super full. A bunch of people apparently got in at 21, a bunch more at 21:30 (when the reserves who did not show up expired) and from there you basically have to wait until someone finishes eating and gets out, which happens decently often because many people who show up before 21 are families with children.
We got seated at around midnight, and the food and drinks arrived siftly from there (besides the Lomo which needs to cook slowly, so be aware of that), everything was from good to very good. Throughout the dinner we cpuld hear music being played in various rooms of the Casona, and as said the overall vibe was fantastic. We would go back and...

Come at night with a group of friends/family and experience the Pena which is singing and enjoyment of Argentine folklore songs. The atmosphere is friendly, welcoming and overall a fun community vibe. There are many areas within this restaurant where you can here different songs played and sung. Dancing is also welcomed. It seems as patrons bring their own instrument and provide the entertainment throughout the restaurant. There is inside and outside seating. The indoor seating is rather limited. I preferred the outside seating as there was plenty of space and didn't feel claustrophobic.
The food at La Casona is great. Typical Argentine dishes from steaks to empanadas to local stews. Wine and beer also complements dishes as expected. We arrived in the late evening and had to wait in line. This place is definitely popular. We didn't leave until the early morning hours and still a line out the door to get in.
Such a great experience and...
Read moreCame here to experience a pena and the atmosphere is definitely good. Came without a reservation at 9pm and took 30min to q. There's a lot of areas and I sat outdoors right in front of the grill which of course proves to leave your clothes with a smell thereafter. Ordered meat empanadas, melted cheese with herbs and vacio steak. The steak was a disaster. Asked for med rare but it was very tough. The worst was that it was a very bad cut. I have no idea what I'm eating and it was so difficult to cut and it just wasn't a normal steak. Prices are good though. Come here to experience the atmosphere but have low expectations for food. The music depends on who is in each area, mostly folklore songs. It is slightly away from the main square so you...
