Heard the food was authentic and went to try it but after we tried it, it wasn’t true at all. Way too much sauce on the noodle dishes, which could be overlooked, however the service I received was deplorable. The lady in her 50’s, who seemed to be the owner, gave us poor attitude when we asked about a price discrepancy. We ordered the Phad Thai, Phad See Eaw Noodles and a Pale Ale, the prices being $16.90, $15.90 and $7.50 respectively. Therefore, the total should have been $40.30, right? We were charged $43.30, which is not the problem, but when we went to ask about the price difference we were given $2 back and the owner said that the Phad See Eaw was $16.90 when it was $15.90 on the menu. By law, you must sell your product at the price that is stated on the menu until you fix YOUR mistake. She then scoffed and asked if we wanted an itemised bill and we politely said no thank you and left, however, she came chasing after us after we had already gone and gave us a bill with the items we ordered and then proceeded to mock us when we tried explaining that it was supposed to be the price stated on the menu before she turned and left. Honestly very upsetting that we received such an attitude when we had done nothing wrong and were respectful and polite when asking about the price difference. Maybe the next person who asks about their bill will have...
Read moreWe used to rate Rena's Thai as a 5/5. We've been committed devotees for the last 3 years and have NEVER been disappointed. However, it seems that something has changed in the last month... since they re-opened in July 2020, we've ordered twice in the last month and have been relatively disappointed with our dishes. We've found that for the last two take-away orders, the veggies and meat are in massive pieces, in comparison to the dishes we had before they closed where things were chopped into smallish pieces so you could get lots of diversity with each bite. The robust flavours that we expect from previous visits have been a bit flat. Flavourful, but nothing memorable. They used to be very memorable, robust, party-in-your-mouth type dishes. I'm not sure what has changed, and we'll give them another try, but we've been really disappointed. I wonder if something in the kitchen has changed? In addition to the order tonight being a bit disappointing, they sent us home with (and we paid for) 2 incorrect dishes...
Read moreLocal, authentic, friendly, reliable, cheap, flavourful, generous. All descriptions I would give of my favourite restaurant. The family are friendly and the food is always fantastic. They're rarely quiet but still promptly answer phones and greet takeaway customers with a smile. Rarely takes them more than 10 minutes to cook an order and their portion sizes are generous. I've been going for 3 years now since I moved to the area and I could wax poetic for hours about this place. I've converted all my friends and extended family into fans, and my parents (long-time Thai cuisine fans) now drive 20 mins from their new suburb every...
