This is not simply a cafe.
This cafe situates at a venue, which was part of a $7M development project funded by the South Australian Government, with a function room facility, The Pavilion, which is available for booking. This venue is perfectly designed for weddings, social events, corporate functions and exhibitions, etc.
This new building was completed at the end of 2023 / early 2024, and the Rozelle's was opened since January 2024.
There were plenty of car park spaces provided after the development project was completed. The in and out traffic route were managed very well now, but unfortunately, Google Map was not smart enough to know the new traffic route. It still directed me to the out entrance, which was inaccessible now. There was a new vehicular entrance, just 50 metres in front of the old entrance. The original entrance gate is now set as exit gates only, which is an automatic gate to allow vehicle exit only.
I ordered coffee only during my visit. I sat at outdoor seating, so that I could enjoy a spectacular view of the city and the lovely Carrick Hill House and beautiful garden. There were heating indoor, so if you prefer warmer seating environment during winter, instead of spectacular view, just request an indoor seating during reservation.
My partner came here before and enjoyed their food, especially pizza and coffee. I didn't have much expectation, but the coffee was really exceptional. Their staff were very friendly too.
I was a bit curious about this Carrick Hill House and this Rozelle's. I googled them and knew the owner of this cafe also operate the Chianti and Bar Torino on Hutt Street. It looked like they are a renowned hospitality and have a long history in Adelaide, and I felt happy to see they are operating this lovely Rozelle's cafe and providing catering services to the Pavilion function room when necessary.
I reckon the Carrick Hill House Museum and Garden is of State significance. Having a well managed catering services provider and their associated cafe at this site will definitely enhance the value of this tourist attraction and the functionality of these assests.
Definitely, I will revisit Rozelle's and shout out to anyone I know to come here to enjoy the spectacular view of Adelaide, the beautiful garden, and the good...
Read moreIt was hot and noisy inside the small cafe today at lunchtime. It was only a mild 24 C in late August. Magnificent location but boring view, the wall or the carpark. We plan to sit outdoors on our next visit to catch the breeze and see the panorama below. But only if we contort our necks and / or bodies. The architect(s) reserved the panorama for the function room. What a pity. The menu and food. The entrees were promising. Delicious battered artichokes and anchovy toast, both beautifully presented. Despite the increasing heat and noise, we grew optimistic. Then enormous hunks of lamb served on a watery bland polenta arrived. No vegetables were served with this, just an array of fried leaves on top as a garnish. We added salt to spice up the meat and meat juices. This expensive and disappointing dish was the slow cooked lamb shoulder. Our friend had better luck. Her half chicken with a very generous array of green beans looked both succulent and enticing. She said it was delicious. To make room for dessert, we offloaded some of the lamb into doggy bags for later. Dessert was pleasant enough, deep fried cannelloni flavoured with lemon but nothing outstanding. We found the wine list frustrating, not enough variety, so we ordered by the...
