If you're new to Adelaide you should know our food is of a high standard. Same goes for coffee. I ordered the big breakfast and a flat white. The coffee was OK. Forgettable. The big breakfast had dry, over cooked scrambled eggs, toast with uninspiring bread and no butter, and everything else - tomatoes, mushrooms (possibly from a can?), sausage and bacon were below par. But it was only $14.90 - a good 5 bucks cheaper than Mount Gambler's Metro cafe that I had the week before which was an EXCEPTIONAL big breakfast.
I've previously LOVED St George's chunky meat pie - award winning with good reason. We tried a couple of dessert pastries after our tepid breakfast - again, nothing inspirational, nothing that stands out. On par with what you'd buy from one of the duopoly supermarkets, I guess.
Our dirty plates sat with us at the table for the rest of our visit. Catching up with my parents, we weren't in a rush to get out fast, but I guess that's what was expected of us as no dirty plate or empty bottle or used coffee mug was collected from us as we sat around for an hour and chatted.
I hope someone reads this from the cafe and rallies around to make this cafe into something that Adelaide can...
Read moreMissed one of my lunch orders despite repeating the order back to me then blamed me The sandwich that was ordered took a long time to prepare and when it came we realised they did not make mine because the man at the counter did not put it through. He argued with me insisted he printed the receipt even though I told him I would like to order something else and it didn't matter. Had to wait for him to serve another customer and print receipt before I could order.I asked for something on the shelf and asked if they can toast it immediately as I was very hungry. When I noticed they were not doing it I asked the owner again n was told rudely there are two customers before you. You have to wait. it takes time to toast. I don't know why I was asked to wait again when the original error was theirs. They eventually did bring it around but it was a bad experience and I wouldn't recommend this particular branch because they were argumentative instead of believing the customer could be telling the truth. Why won't I make it up? I just wanted a quick lunch which turned into an unpleasant and stressful time. Plse be nicer to your customers. Try not to argue and accept they can...

My wife and I arrived about 12.15 and decided to order from the all day breakfast menu.
I ordered a "big breakfast" which contained baked beans, a sausage, mushrooms, poached eggs, bacon, bread and a hash brown. Only the bacon was cooked properly
The eggs were overcooked, I could pull the yolk our and eat the white separately, the hash brown was cold, the sausage was overcooked and tasted like cardboard, it had no moisture in it. The grilled mushrooms were half cooked & half raw, the bread wasn't even toasted properly. Inedible and a waste of nearly $15.00
My wife ordered eggs benedict, again the toast was cold, the eggs overcooked and the yolk was dried up.
Then we get to the drinks. Upon stirring the Chai, you could scoop up the chai from the bottom of the cup. The iced coffee I had tasted like smoke.
All up almost $40 spent and none of the food or drink was edible. Don't go here, the standards have really dropped recently. Go somewhere else were they'll appreciate your business and not give you food that I wouldn't even...
