6 course long lunch at @currantshed: fantastic service, amazing food, great views - what more can you ask for 🙂😍. We were so full by the end of the meal, but so worth it! Perfect place for a long lunch 😍. . Snacks: Mussel on sourdough crisp: nice flavours with big mussels! Mushroom paté with nori crisp: the mushroom paté was so good! Really tasty 😋. . Rye sourdough bread: love love love this bread! Omg it was hot from the oven, and it was perfectly done 🤤🤤🤤. . Melon, passionfruit, goats curd, smoked almonds: compressed watermelon, parisienned melon, rock melon caviar, goats curd, passionfruit, smoked almond, melon and cucumber foam - this was a really interesting 'summer salad' kind of dish. Really good combination of sweet fruity flavours with the goats curd. Enjoyed it a lot - very refreshing! . Tuna, strawberry, balsamic, mint: cold smoked Port Lincoln tuna, fresh strawberries, strawberry balsamic, buttermilk dressing, nasturtium oil, brik pastry, Minto powder, fresh mint - a very refreshing dish again. The tuna was tasty, and paired well with the strawberries. . Prawns, corn, taco, peaches: seared prawns, roast capsicum taco served on a bed of chipotle beans and sour cream topped with smoked corn, coriander, spiced peaches, spring onion - this dish was really delicious! The prawns were perfected cooked - tender and juicy and full of flavour 🤤🤤🤤. All the other components of the dish were good too. The only small thing I could have wished for was maybe more hard shell taco 😂. . Beef, witlof, mango, nuts: cured lobethal beef with salad of watercress, witlof, green mango, and green papaya, dressed in chermoula and topped with spiced nuts and labneh - the cured beef was very savoury, and balanced well with the tasty and refreshing salad! . Duck, plum, sesame, soy: duck breast, pickled plum, plum gel, sesame cracker, honey soy caramel, accompanied by a salad of confit duck leg, shiso, red sorrel, shaved fennel, anise hyssop and crispy ginger - WOW I loved this dish!! I always love duck, but they did a really great job 👍👍. The breast was very tender and full of flavour - perfect! . Palate cleanser: melon, apple, citrus sorbet, with splash of gin - this was actually really delicious 😍😍. . Chocolate, coffee, bourbon, cherries: spiced chocolate terrine, bourbon ice cream, marinated cherries, oat crumb with coffee glass - super creative dessert! Lovely chocolate terrine paired well with the ice cream 😍😍. Yum! . A cake to finish off the lunch at the end: so full but still had to eat it!!

Great place to try some degustation dishes. Also have great view towards its vineyard when seating outside. We tried the dishes both exotic and familiar to some regular restaurants. 2 courses $75 pp plus wine (depending on the wine you chose) Entree: - kangaroo carpaccio | pumpkin | bush tomato | saltbush - pork belly | peanut | bean sprouts | mint | coriander | kaffir lime Main: - lamb I chermoula cucumber dukkah - chicken | corn | polenta tarragon Wine: - Grant Nash GSC Grenache Shiraz Carignan (red) $15 Glass - Larnook Grenache Gris (white) $13 Glass Entree kangaroo was a bit salty to me but I still gave 5 stars as the execution of preparing the dish was to its detail. The meat was in perfect thinly sliced and so did its pumpkin. The pork belly was to its perfection of its crunchiness. And who would have thought that combined with the peanut sauce, it was delish, made it sort of like an Asian fusion. Main lamb was generous. I would prefer to have a bit more of the green salad and/or add some butternut squash. The chicken’s polenta blew my mind on how it’s cooked. Perfect crisp on the outside and soft in the inside. Combined with the corn puree made it melted in your mouth. Both wine were just perfect pair to either of the dishes - Red with kangaroo and lamb - White with pork belly and chicken We were given also some complementary pre-entree and post-main. The sourdough bread was fresh from the oven. The butter was very smooth that I couldn’t get enough of. We didn’t try the pairing wines but we ordered what we would like to have on the day. Note: - they change the menu every few weeks/months. This menu was developed by Wayne Leeson - surcharge 10% on public holidays - they also have private dining area which separates to the main (public) dining room We didn’t try the dessert as we were still a bit full from late breakfast.

Was expecting a more blow out socks off in flavour since that’s what majority of the reviews said, however was very disappointed considering the drive there and the price point paid. We ordered a la carte & not the feed me menu. Complimentary warm bread n butter is initially served and it was good bread with a nice crust. Entree was cured kangaroo and this was lovely with hint of tang from different techniques of beetroot. I’d recommend it. This was the highlight of the entire meal. Other entrees was master stock braised pork. This is similar to what you get in Vietnamese restaurants & there was nothing special about it. Then there complimentary snacks of nori crisps, crackers prior to mains. Thumbs up on this. I would of just ordered their snacks as a main course. Mains was very disappointing from over cooked duck to overpowering mussel sauce on tiny barramundi with lumpy non crispy skin. I don’t have much positive words on the main course. Complimentary lemon meringue tartlets to finish. Customer service was also terrible. It was freezing during the lunch service and we asked if we could have the blinds pulled down but that was greeted with an eye roll. Then after all the menus went flying from the wind, they decided to pull down all the blinds. As a local born n bread Adelaide clan, I’m not sure if it was my luck of not getting the experience as many say on google reviews!

We tried the dishes both exotic and familiar to some regular restaurants.

Main: lamb I chermoula cucumber dukkah chicken | corn | polenta tarragon

This has been a long time favourite of myself and my partner but our most recent experience was lacking in customer service. Either there is a new manager or the regular manager wasn’t working when we visited. The former manager always made a point to visit every table, make everyone feel welcome and ask if you were celebrating a special occasion. He was so personable and always the cherry on top of a perfect lunch.

This time he was no where to be seen and the first waiter who visited our table greeted us with “have you decided what you’ll be having?”. Not even a “hello”. And honestly we felt a bit taken aback because we had just gotten engaged literally 30 minutes before sitting down and were bursting to share our happy news but this young woman made it clear there would be no time for pleasantries.

The food was top notch as usual and we still enjoyed our surprise engagement lunch in private, but we both wished our favourite manager had been there.

The vibe generally seemed off and quite possibly staff were on edge due to the Covid situation (this was early Jan 2022), but then I would have thought they’d keep their masks properly fitted rather than noses poking out or pulled down to speak.

Probably seems like a silly reason to complain but when people go to the Currant Shed quite often it is for a special occasion. A little bit of friendly conversation goes a long way to making someone’s day even...
