A Memorable Culinary Journey at The Duck!
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Duck in Adelaide, South Australia, and it was a great experience all in all! From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted with a warm and inviting ambiance from the rustic modern look with a warm fire place that set the stage for a nice evening.
There was solid service provided by the friendly and knowledgeable staff. They were attentive without being intrusive and seem to be on the ball with most things.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the food! The Duck truly excels in crafting delectable dishes that showcase their expertise with their star dishes like the steak and salads, which was beautifully presented and bursting with flavors. The menu offers a delightful fusion of Australian and Asian cuisines, creating a unique and exciting dining experience.
It also offers you pub favourites like burgers and schnitzels which is good for the guest not wanting to go outside the box.
I took the risk of having the steak, I'm always worried ordering a steak around pub dishes as most of the time it never lives up to the hype but it cooked to perfection, to tender and succulent meat. The combination of flavors and textures was divine, leaving us craving for more. It's evident that The Duck takes great pride in sourcing high-quality ingredients and executing their dishes with precision.
The horse radish dip with the duck sauce was one of the best components to be added next to a steak I've had in a long time.
The beverage selection at The Duck was equally impressive. The extensive wine list featured a wide range of local and international options, expertly curated to complement the flavors of the dishes. The staff was more than happy to assist in selecting the perfect pairing for our meal, enhancing the overall dining experience.
In terms of ambiance, The Duck strikes the perfect balance between sophistication and comfort. The modern yet cozy interior design creates an intimate atmosphere, although depending on the time you go can feel a little too quiet for how bright the lighting is and can make you feel like you under a spot light on show but The Duck is still set for both special occasions and casual get-togethers. The attention to detail in the décor adds an extra touch of elegance to the overall dining experience.
I must also mention the reasonable pricing at The Duck. Considering the high quality of the ingredients, the skillful preparation, and the exceptional service, the prices were surprisingly fair. It's refreshing to find a restaurant that offers such a fantastic dining experience without breaking the bank.
My one gripe was that our whole table ordered at the same time but meals where almost 15 mins apart and either some of the guest finished early or waited and their food was cold. Would of been good to hear a sorry or a drink on the house.
In conclusion, I do recommend The Duck to anyone looking for an culinary adventure in Adelaide if you are up this way. The combination of good service, creative cuisine, and a warm ambiance makes this restaurant stand out from the crowd. Whether you're a duck lover or simply appreciate fine dining, The Duck is sure to have...
Read moreWe went there again for the Music Bingo, which is always fun. Otherwise don’t bother. We’d even invited some friends to come with us who had never been here before. Most meals were okay (not great., just okay), but our poor friend bought a Caesar Salad which came to $28bucks PLUS ANOTHER $8 extra for grilled chicken added (making it $36!!, one of the most expensive meals on the menu). We all thought this was going to be an impressive Ceasar salad and were keen to see what came out. Hmmm Now, we’ve all seen (and know) what $8 of extra chicken should look like in a Caesar salad.., all or most of a breast piece,? evenly sliced?, obvious char-grill lines and presented visibly atop the salad with the soft egg poised. Noooooope not here. This plate was a JOKE!, there was maybe 6-7 small flat 1-2cm diced pieces lost under the leafage and hiding amongst the bacon bits. At first we actually thought it had been forgotten altogether. We figured It worked out at more than a $1dollar per piece, with most pieces sized as small as chicken stock cubes. It really came off like penny pinching and felt like a really disappointing rip-off. People know what value is. Every meal on their menu, at comparison with other venues, is at a top-dollar price., so you’d either expect quality restaurant food or a decent quantity of good pub food., unfortunately you get neither here, it’s average to small sized portions that are lacking in any quality preparation. Even the burgers could be a bit more creative, big dollars for no imagination. If you’re charging $36 dollars for a chicken salad you’d really like to see some actual chicken on the plate when it lands in front of you., and not have to wonder if they’d forgotten it and then scrounge around for it and fossick under foliage to find it. If eggs and chicken are just too expensive to provide a fair amount to make a reasonably sized plate for your customers., maybe you should consider not offering it, because that was disappointing and embarrassing for you. We’d recommend this place and invited them to join us (and that’s to our embarrassment, thanks a lot), it will be hard to convince them to want to return and a while before we consider suggesting it to others again. People know what cheap looks like, and slugging $8 bucks for added chicken and then only getting a measly sprinkle of chicken bits mixed among it, is a cheap move!m. It’s a really really cheap, money-grabbing move. The staff are great., the atmosphere is also great (during musical bingo)., but that meal, for that price,, left a sour taste in all our mouths. I’ll say it again…. THIRTY-SIX DOLLARS FOR A SALAD??!!?? Next time it will be eat elsewhere beforehand and just go here for a drink or two I...
Read moreOh dear, where do I start, sadly disappointed with this so called "local gem". We have lived in the area for 16 years and have eaten here 4 times, each time hoping it would improve. Just this Saturday evening we dined here with friends, firstly we were sat by a revolving door which must have been opened upwards of 20 times during the evening and we blasted by cold air, the door didn't need to be open as there was a door next to it that could have been used as a safe exit and entry. Secondly, on ordering our drinks, we waited half an hour for them to arrive, we waited half an hour again for two serves of garlic bread and another 25 minutes for our mains. When the mains arrived our table was so cluttered with items that had not been removed that we had to retire our glasses to the floor and stack plates so the waitress could actually put our mains in front of us. When I commented that she may need to collect some items first, she retorted that her arms were weary and she just "needed" to put some items down first, my question would have been " where exactly?" When my second choice of main was delivered as they had run out of my first choice, the pasta was so terribly over cooked and my Irish friend commented of his that he though the " "feckin fish" had eaten the "feckin chips" as they were few and far between. The highlight of the evening was the two mocktails that my girlfriend and I ordered. Previous times I have been here, I have seen the chef eating in the kitchen between cooking and serving meals in plain veiw of the dining room and have had a guest who's meal was completely missed off the order list and was delivered long after our group had completed eating. Is this really the light that returaunts wish to be seen in? Where has the pride and customer...
