Third Time Lucky — Restaurant in Adelaide

Very unimpressed with my experience today. I've come here many times before and have always enjoyed it, but today I stopped by for coffee and cake. I won't be coming back.

I was overcharged. Easy mistake to make and only very minor (literally only a dollar).

However, when I politely questioned it, I was told they'd made a mistake with the listed price of the cake.

Once again, easy mistake to make.

Now, they had already served the cake. It was literally on my table. But instead of them just giving me the difference of a dollar back due to their mistake, they asked if I still wanted it. So I said "I'll have it if it's the listed price but not if it's the more expensive price."

Expecting them to just give me back the dollar, they said "ok do you want the refund back on your card or in cash?" and I said "cash is fine, thanks."

A few minutes later, they came to my table to collect the cake that they'd already served and said "it's gone back on your card."

So why bother even asking how I'd like my refund if you're going to ignore my answer?

To the staff, hospitality is a service industry. I'm not asking for something for free; just to have it at the listed price and to have the error corrected in a polite way. Instead the response was pretty rude and my experience today at the cafe was such that you've lost countless future visits from a customer.

The staff may not care. Doesn't affect their pay. But owners should be aware that this is going on. Losing repeat customers is how cafes go bust, especially in...

Amazing cafe , breakfast is next level , true Aussie taste with some Irish heritage, what an amazing place to be, Everything from cleanliness, atmosphere, rich and vibrant culture and most importantly super cool yet professional staff all in one place.

Won’t tell you more as you may think it’s a paid partnership 😂. But jokes aside, you should experience it yourself, specially in this time and age that you see Fast Food Chains in every corner, such classic buffets with high quality food are indeed eye catching.

At the end I have one siggestion please, please add Barbecue Sauce to your menus as it goes so well with Bacon and Eggs 🍳🫡😉🌹.

I've been here a few times now and I've gotta say it's pretty awful. If the dude with the beard and hair makes your coffee/food you're in for a good time. If not, just walk away.
