After a recommendation from a friend who stated the food was amazing, I was going to give this place a go. So beyond glad we did! The food is top notch, however the real positive part about the experience is actually the staff. To the team on today 8/11/2025 for lunch service, I want to thank you all. It’s the welcoming attitudes from ordering the drinks to the food. (Also listening to the staff make recommendations to others that came into the establishment from the bar while I ordered drinks)! And each time another customer collected a meal from the window the male staff member was so truely warm and friendly but most importantly passionate about the meals being served. It honestly just made the experience not feel like it was our first time, but that we were truly valued just as much as each local that came through the doors, that were known by first or nick name basis. Even on our way out as I do each meal I thanked the male staff member and even had a genuine question from him asking “how was it?” It’s those little comments and also added aioli that customers remember. I’ve since returned home and passed this experience onto my parents, who have already began to organise a lunch with their friends. -food items we ordered were the Share plate as entree (the prawns were delicious!) Double Appin burger (beef was seasoned so well!) Boscaiola parmigiana (portion size is brilliant!)

It’s like stepping back in time—and not in a good way. The decor feels outdated and worn, as if it hasn’t seen a refresh in decades. The atmosphere is stale, lacking any energy or warmth that you’d expect from a local pub. To make matters worse, the service is incredibly slow; we waited ages for even the simplest orders. The staff seemed indifferent, and the food didn’t redeem the experience either. Overall, if you’re looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a meal or a drink, you might want to look elsewhere.

So nice to take a drive along tree-lined Appin Road, winding through the cow paddocks and stop in at the historic Appin Hotel. Plenty of country charm here. The tables in the bistro have great views onto the footy field and there's a Big Koala across the road, keeping a watchful eye on the pub. Bring the kids and have a fun day out.

Customer service is something ive worked in so im quite strict you might say. Friendly staff. Not helpful though. There to do their version or the system work of the job and you can do the rest yourself. Not even busy and they act like they're in a rush and dont have time for you. I've worked Sydney and Melbourne cbd christmas times etc and still manage more rapport efforts and willingness to help as do other staff members and shop owners ive worked with or experienced. It may be a 'pub' but customer service is just that. I'll give a bad review for a Macca's staff member if their customer service was woeful in hopes its mentioned and actioned in staff meetings or the like of. If you dont want to deal with people or be nice than don't work in a customer service role, perhaps warehousing or data collection is more for the majority of the staff here. Either that or management is terrible so the workers follow suit... either way with multiple visits now and the same customer service its clear its just the way it is at this pub.

Also wouldnt recommend the children play equipment as it looks like it was built in 2000 and started breaking and falling apart in 2010. I didnt feel safe allowing my 2yo to go down the slide again once I waited for her at the bottom and had no choice but to watch as her legs came over an entirely snapped and sharp edged bottom of the slide. Also very outdated and dangerous in this day and age in design. Wouldn't hurt to rip it out and get a new one installed as its beyond any repair efforts thats for sure. It entices the kids and is very hard to say no so how do we protect them without being the mean one saying they cant play or just allow them to risk cutting themselves at the least for trying to have fun... its 2025 update...

I had dinner here last Saturday night,(recommend booking a table) and the Grilled Chicken Breast with “Donna’s famous Boscaiola sauce” was absolutely to die for. My only complaint was that the portions were so enormous that I ate as much as I could, passed it to my date to eat as much as he could and still had to ask for a container to take the leftovers home. Then my sons fought over it after tasting it. Absolutely delicious. Best boscaiola sauce ever. The chicken was moist and tender and a lot of it, chips piled high were hot, crispy and delicious and the salad had everything I liked. You can choose mash and veggies if you prefer. On top of that it was only $30. Really friendly staff, great little pub that had live music and nice locals. Definitely going back and highly recommend. Well, I went back for lunch on the 13/10 for my son’s birthday and it was spectacular. My son had Beef Nachos that was an entree and enormous, delicious and shared with his brother. They then had the Cajun Chicken burger each and devoured it in four bites, then wanted another, they then split an Emerson Parmigiana and couldn’t stop raving about that, then they shared a dessert of Banana Split Caramel Mud Cake with ice cream and whipped cream… I had the magnificent chicken boscaiola again and couldn’t finish it all. All this food for $140.50….Incredible food at an amazing price !!!!! And the chef and staff are absolutely awesomely friendly. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this...
