Recently had to go out of my way for fish and chips tonight because my local was closed and I would have to say I am seriously considering the extra 15 minute drive as worth it.
The strong points are, the family meal is directly comparable to other stores, they offer snapper as their default fish on the deal which is a major value bonus when compared to upgrade costs from hake elsewhere, it was busy yet I did not wait for very long for my meal and it was well wrapped for the longer trip home to keep it hot.
This is not to say it is perfect. The batter they use is not quite as crispy as other places and holds a little more oil than comparisons. If you can battle that with fresh pineapple fritters then I think the better fish is a real motivator to come back. Especially...
Read moreWe had a credit from a previous order mistake and over charge so decided to use it tonight. This place used to be so good, the manager is very friendly and helpful but the food is so bad. The fish is completely stuck to the batter and really hard and the chips were really bad, hard and all were off cuts probably the end of the bag and completely cooked to a crisp. If a customer had a bad experience previously then wouldn't you try to do a better job next time around. There were over 15 pieces of fish sitting on the draining rack for the entire time we were there and more were being added, no wonder everything was so hard. Can anyone recommend another one...
Read moreUber eats some food from here last night and we had red emperor and potato scallops and chips and it arrived HOT crispy and absolutely beautiful, the batter was perfect not to thick like battered fish normally is soaked jn oil it was absolute perfection, although my pineapple fritter was missing from the order but maybe that's why they chucked in extra scallops and fish, giving i didn't even realise till the next day it was missing lol, it's the best fish and chips I've had in years. The only thing I will say is the chips could be bigger and fatter I love myself a thick crispy chip you know...
