Appalling experience. Menu states GF or GFA on particular meals and this is FALSE and should be removed from their menu. Finally after waiting 45 minutes for our meals, our table is seeing their food. However mine is missing. Without approaching me with any sort of apology the waitress whips her tea towel over her shoulder, shakes her head and says ‘nuh nuh, the chef can’t do your meal GF because it shares the same fryer…’ I said even though the menu states GFA and I’ve been charged for it? She responds that they can make me something else.. after I already waited 45 minutes and was the first in my group to order my meal! WHY did it take for all the other meals at my table to be out until I was spoken to? Why was I able to pay and wait for a meal that was never coming? I declined and said I am not waiting however much longer when I had my young toddler with me!!! Requesting my refund, they then told me ‘the chef CAN do your meal for you’. So which is it people? I was quite annoyed at this point and so I said no, I’d like a refund. Scrambling with my toddler, I agreed to a cash refund which I shoved in my purse whilst I continued to battle with my son (IYKYK). Now that I’m home I realise that I wasn’t even refunded my full amount, I was charged for GF, that they apparently can’t even offer and I didn’t get that change back! THIEVES. GF means GF, not ‘GF in a contaminated fryer’. There’s zero grey area, it’s either GF or it’s not. Really simple. I am so utterly disgusted with the service I received tonight, not one staff member apologised and I was treated like I was a problem, when in fact it was the staff, chef and the menu that were...
Read moreOut today in the Hills with some friends with their 3 kids and decided to go to the Ballhannah Hotel for lunch. We parked out the back and walked around the front looking for the entrance to the dining room. We missed the first entrance and saw the door for the gaming (Gambling centre with Pokies) so decided to cut through there and then straight into the dining room. We all entered the dining room - 2 couples and 3 kids looking for a table when the owner and manager of the pub stormed over and started ranting at us about bringing children in through the gambling room. He was abusive and said that we are obviously not from South Australia as do not know the rules. He was loud and obnoxious and everyone in the dining room could hear him. Firstly I did not know this rule as I do not have kids, and secondly do not agree with gambling allowed in hotels anyway and have no interest in the pokies. All we were looking for was lunch and were prepared to spend our money in the dining room for hopefully good food. This guy had no idea of customer service and if we were from interstate or overseas it was a very bad way to treat visitors. My husband could not help himself and said that the kids put on a few quick bets in the 10 seconds it took us to come through. The manager said not to be a smart arse. We then all decided to leave the pub and go to the next door cafe for lunch where we had...
Read moreThis is our local pub and we are never disappointed in the food or service. Probably the best value burger and drink lunch combo in SA, with a selection of great burgers and both alcoholic drinks and soft drinks. The recent renovations to the outdoor area will be a wonderful asset when the weather warms up, but there is both electric and gas heating, so the area is quiet lovely now. It was also great to see that they have introduced a Seniors Card discount, which is a great bonus. All meals are of a high standard and they have a good dessert selection, so leave room! They have a pokies area, but it is a separate room off the main dining area, so noise is not an issue. They also have an open garden area and our well behaved husky fur-baby has always been made to feel welcome with a fresh bowl of water, which is great. They have a free members club that you can join and the points add up to discounted food or beverages. When you pay your bill, if it comes to over a certain amount, you get a voucher to choose from a range of discounted specials at their bottle shop. What’s not to like? Consistency good and reasonably priced, especially during the week at lunchtime! Well done Balhannah Hotel. Keep up...
