I used to be a regular at Humble Pie when passing through, so I was thrilled to learn Billi Bakehouse had reopened with Wardell Pies. The pies are great, so is the coffee. The pies are always full of flavour, my favourites are steak and kidney and their Thai curry pie. Make no mistake though, these pies are best eaten with a knife and fork as they're too wet to hold while driving! Topped off with friendly staff makes this a great spot to break up the drive. Access is easier for those heading north, but southbound travellers can use the Yelgun turnoff. Patron facilities are as they were previously and could use a refresh. I'm sure this will happen in time. It's great to see pies back at Billi, highly recommended.

Had to buy 2 of these awesome hand grenade pies ,from the Tugun BP Station, Gold Coast, ( They are made at Billi Bakehouse in Billinudgel in northern NSW ) First was a Cheese & Bacon , great flavour although lacking in the cheese dept, unfortunately which knocks it score down a tad ,8/10, their pastry is flakey & buttery & a perfect thickness , The second was a Chunkey Steak , not my normal go to as I much prefer Mince Steak. Great thick heavy tasting gravey & the steak pieces although a little dry but still very tender and mixed beautifully with the gravey. - an easy 9/10 Price $6.50 each .#billibakehouse

Best pies I’ve had, not just a bit better, miles better than any other pie. We tried 5 different flavours. Pumpkin one was superb, spinach fetter was impressive. Chicken curry was outstanding. Entrance to shop is a bit tucked away but once you figure it out you’ll be stopping every time you drive past. Very nice sitting area out the back. We were on a long drive and glad we tried something new by stoping here.

This is so much more than just a pie shop. The tranquil surroundings coupled with a warm brew go so well with the pie you have decided to try. Bliss...

To be fair, the pies are the reason why I travel over an hour to this establishment. And yes, I know that they are actually baked at Wardell some 40 mins south... but it is well worth the ride.

My only gripe is that they are not opened on Sunday... it is almost criminal to keep this place closed !! And they don't have a gluten free option....

Do yourself a favour and stop in on your next travel north... or south. You will not be...
