The store is under new management by some Asians. The traditional Chooksy menu is slowly being replaced by Chinese food. After waiting several minutes for the old bloke to get off his phone and serve me I ordered a grilled chicken wrap and instead was served this thing.

Always disappointed either forget to give you your chips or gravy or they sell your chicken to someone else! Have had raw chicken a couple times now can't believe someone hasn't got seriously sick that I know of yet!

I love chooksy but today was really disappointing. Had a phone order blt, tiniest piece of bacon and full of cabbage. It took 8 calls to get through that should of been the sign

During a recent visit to Chooksys, I found myself looking forward to the quintessential comfort dish of chips and gravy, only to be met with a profound sense of disappointment. While the establishment boasts an otherwise commendable reputation, this particular offering fell egregiously short of expectations.

The chips themselves were adequately prepared, maintaining a crisp exterior and a tender interior, a testament to competent frying techniques. However, the true crux of this dish—the gravy—was a lamentable misstep. Rather than the anticipated rich and velvety accompaniment, the gravy presented itself as an insipid, watery concoction, devoid of both texture and depth.

In its ideal form, gravy should envelop the chips, providing a luscious, savory complement that enhances the overall experience. This rendition, however, possessed a consistency more akin to a diluted broth, seeping into the chips and rendering them an unappetizing, soggy amalgam. The lack of viscosity meant that each bite was bereft of the robust, hearty flavor that one expects from such a sauce.

Moreover, the seasoning was conspicuously absent, resulting in a gravy that failed to deliver even a modicum of the rich umami essence that defines this comfort food classic. It is perplexing that a dish so fundamental could be so egregiously mishandled.

In conclusion, while Chooksys may excel in other areas, their rendition of chips and gravy is, regrettably, not one of them. For those who appreciate the intricacies of well-prepared comfort food, I would advise seeking out an establishment that better understands the delicate balance and complexity required to elevate this simple dish to its...

Chooksy’s used to be great! Huge burgers and snitties tetradactyl sized!

The business has been built up by an incredibly hard working couple, and after a very long period has been sold.

And it is deadset TERRIBLE.

2 days ago two young girls were trying their best to take orders and cook them all, as there was a huge line-up and the older Asian gent just grunted and pointed to them as he clearly can’t speak English.

I left as I ran out of time for my lunch break waiting to be served.

I gave them the benefit of the doubt and allocated my lunch break to them again.

They now didn’t have two kids running the show, they has just one!

This poor guy was under the pump big time. He had a dozen customers waiting for food that he hadn’t even put on yet, while “ol mate Mr Miagi stood there smiling, doing nothing at all while us tradies were lined up waiting for our lunch which arrived after our 30min lunchbreak had finished.

When I got my meal eventually, the wait was almost 20 minutes, the one young staff member was understandably knackered, the wait times had increased and the prices had gone up.

I will NEVER...

I had to give a 1 star to even comment. They don't even deserve that. Still have the Business Award Finalist certificates and Winner certificate on the wall which definitely don't belong there from the previous owners. Who knows, maybe they're fake. Where do I start... the fried chicken pieces we ordered were crumbed and almost charred burnt on the outside. The chips were sloppy, smelled of old oil and were reheated and a very dark colour almost burnt. The flies buzzing around were sickening. We found out it had changed owners which explains why whatever we ordered off the menu we were told wasn't available. There was Chinsse food sitting in hot trays that had flies buzzing around it. There was a salad bar that didn't look fresh at all and looked like it was made days before. BTW we didn't eat it and brought it home for our dog instead. He sniffed it and walked...
