Rainy Tuesday called for a pizza lunch. After a quick search in Google La Zucca was one of the few open in the area so headed down with some friends. Given it was a Tuesday we had the shop to ourselves. Very cosy atmosphere, they have done a great job fitting it out. Booths out the back and nice tables in the middle with lounge seating against the wall. I assume it was the owner that served us, she was lovely and took our drink/pizza orders. Big wood fired oven in the kitchen promised good things in the pizza department. We got a pepperoni and margherita (great pizza to get a baseline of any place). After a short wait we got our pizzas served to our table. The flavours on both pizza were decent. Napoli sauce was simple with a little kick of herbs. Cheese on each pizza again was decent and not overly oily. The only thing missing was that wood fired crisp. The crunch you get at the crust with a nice little crisp on the base. Unfortunately our pizza was floppy and powdery on the base, they probably could of gone another 5mins in the oven. For around $20 the pizza is fairly small for the price and will feed 1 person easily. Whilst it wasn't the best pizza, it was still decent and so its not a bad option of you are local to the area.

Wow just... I don't actually know where to start. Ordered on Uber, took nearly two hours as the drivers kept cancelling because it took so long. The photos will speak volumes but incase they don't here is some honest and not over stated feedback : smallest coldest meal on the planet, which fine whatever, tasted like Aldi packet potato gnocchi with tomato PASTE. Not sauce, as in if you bought a jar of tomato sauce from the grocery store it would be better, this actually tasted like canned tomato paste without even being mixed into any type of "sauce". My 6 year old niece once made me bolegnaise and it was basically beef mince and tomato paste from the can, bless her. It was better than this. My dog sniffed it and walked away. $25 "main". God even if it was good, look at that size? For potato and tomato. What an utter disgraceful ripoff. Your owners and "chef" should be ashamed. Summary : packet gnocchi, tomato paste, sprinkle of maybe cheese, and about 5 mouthfuls that my Labrador wouldn't eat (if you have a Labrador, you know they'll eat just about anything. Guess the acidic tomato paste was a turn off). Actually the worst "meal" I can ever recall, paid for or free. Learning to cook in grade 4-5 produced better results 🙄

We arrived at 5:30 as we have young kids and put in our order and the food came out staggered at 6:45 and the was only 1 other couple in the restaurant. The food was very average and we also ordered another pizza take away for lunches. When we got the pizza it was extremely undercooked and tiny. We also order the parmigiana and the waitress advised they had no side salad and we said that was fine and we’ll take whatever else there is as a side. Unfortunately there was nothing. We got a pub grub parmigiana on a bread and butter plate and nothing else for $24. There was 9 of us and spent well over $600 and will never be back. Very disappointing unfortunately.

Kitchen Nightmares!!! Non-Existent Service!!! Where to begin with how bad our experience was?

Group of 8 for dinner, Friday night. (March 2023) Not overly busy in the restaurant. (4-5 tables)

Firstly, the service, or lack of; The staff have absolutely no idea regarding table service or being in the hospitality industry. (We couldn't blame them directly, it was so bad it definitely comes down to a complete lack of training) our experience included, The staff did not ask once throughout the evening if anyone would like drinks. We had to leave the table and request drinks at the counter (they will bring them to the table eventually, however we needed to return to the counter and offer to carry them ourselves after long delays) The meals arrived at the table staggered with approximately 30 minutes between the first meals and last meals arriving at the table. After another 30 minutes, the finished plates are still on the table. Upon returning to the counter to order drinks, I politely informed the staff member that our experience was well below standard and asked that the plates be removed from the table. (By this stage, no other patrons were in the restaurant) The drinks were brought to the table and to our amazement, the waitress walked off without clearing the table. We stacked our own plates and put them to one end. We had 3 rounds of drinks over 2.5 hours, the glasses from each round were never collected. The conversation around the table quickly turned to how bad this restaurant is run, in fact, it was so bad it was comical. As we finished our last round 30 min later and began to leave, a staff member finally collected our plates. We tried to make light of the situation, however everyone left very disappointed, especially given that we don't get together all that often.

Now for the food, The pizzas were terrible (1 star), the bases are bland & completely tasteless, no moisture content at all, and so overcooked that the base was as brittle as a corn chip. Also, one pizza came out with so much rocket on top, it looked like a salad.

Parmigiana Chicken, (2 star) certainly on the smaller size, (think chicken Kiev) with a separate small bowl of salad on the plate. Very underwhelming.

Fettucine Carbonara, (3 star) Overall the best choice by the people who ordered it. Except they were the last meals to arrive, everyone else had finished their meals, it was so steaming hot that it was unable to be eaten and enjoyed straight away. (Think microwave heat)

This restaurant needs some serious help, but now after reading similar reviews posted over a long period of time, I don't think the message is getting through.

If you enjoy, extremely poor service, and very ordinary food, then this is definitely the place to visit.

I very much doubt the legitimacy of all the 5 star reviews.

Poor value for money.

During our night in lockdown we decided to treat ourselves with a takeaway. The first hiccup was delivery, where the driver had to call us in order to find the address. While ordering you are prompted to pin point your location, somehow the driver ended a couple of blocks away, interesting to say? Anyway can happen, let’s get to the thing that matters, the food.

Our vegan friend ordered ravioli. The shapes where suspiciously too perfect, and the sauce tasted too much like a jar of Dolmio. Credits to the guys at Dolmio, but when you order food you would expect something authentic. The ravioli was under seasoned and ended up tasting bland. Our friend also ordered a vegan pizza. The base of the pizza was so thin real Italians would be proud, but somehow they managed to undercook the dough.

A calzone was received too, yes you guessed it, undercooked. The dough was folded in a way that baffled us, setting yourself up for failure, this was raw. The filling was okay but yet again under seasoned.

Me myself and I ordered the chicken parmi, which was okay I must admit. However, the crispy blanket was soggy and overall under seasoned. The side salad lacked flavor, didn’t detect any dressing and some of the bits had brown tips on them, when salad turns brown you should toss it. Just to be clear toss it in the bin, not in the order.

Let’s recap: poor delivery, raw and under seasoned food and let’s just say two out of three spent some time alone in a smaller separate room with belly aches. Mostly when we order takeaway we win, but this time we lost.

If you are reading this you are most likely thinking about ordering tonight. Our panels advice is: keep your money in your pocket and just go make your own dinner. Take your time, watch some video’s and you’ll end up with an amazing dish. It’s simply not worth it.

Sorry to say but La Zucca you left us in a disappointed state. Also commenting on one of your orders where a disappointed customer complains on the food being undercooked. In reaction you mention the customer should have ordered from you guys directly instead of Uber eats. A different delivery guy is not going to cook your dinner, stop putting the blame on someone else. Very poor reaction. And by the way if you decide to comment, yes, we did order directly from...

Well what can I say, from the moment we were told where to sit, which was a booth. No issues there with being a booth, but food scraps were on the table top and over one the booth chairs. So wasn’t a very good start for our first time. Then when we had to enlighten the staff about this we were told just sit where we want. Staff member comes to where we sat and gives us menus and we explained it was our first time and looked at the menus. We order a starter and some drinks. Starter arrives, but no cutlery to eat it with, drinks arrive, one being a coffee that was barely warm. The starter was quite nice although we used just our fingers to eat it with even after asking for a fork. We just thought we’ll order mains and see how that goes. But from start to here there was no music in the background and only four other people. So the place is quiet and no music you can only hear all the kitchen commotion. So when we ordered our mains we asked about music which was put on and nice to listen to whilst waiting. Then as our meals arrived the music disappeared. My wife’s meal was very nice, my was chirizo gnocci and only meant to be spicy, which I’m fine with. I had one mouthful of it and thought that’s not spicy it seems quite hot and tried a second mouthful and found it was loaded with Chili and burned my mouth.. I asked about the chili in it cause it had chili seeds everywhere in it and was told sorry I added some due to lack of spices. I said it would of been nice to know cause the menu only says the meal is spicy and i can’t eat it with chili all through it it’s too hot. No discount was offered, my wife and I just paid and left and highly doubt that we...
