I have been eating at Wild Canary for many years and had the benefit of experiencing the wonderful and warm service with the previous owners. I've tried so hard and really didn't want to write this however, my most recent experience was so bad I have been left with no choice. I made sure I spoke to someone at the cafe regarding my experience before I left however I have not heard from them so am forced to write a public review. I always struggle with the front of house male who I have consistently found to be far from friendly. Given I'm a regular and I book under my name, I would have thought a friendly greeting using my name wouldn't be too unreasonable however it's always a grumpy greeting with a 'Yes?' when you arrive. I'm begrudgingly taken to my table and then not even a 'can I start you off with a drink?' and if I dare to ask for a coffee/water while I wait for my friends to arrive, or to just start with, I am let know (non-verbally), in no uncertain terms, that it is not HIS job, that I should wait for someone to come to serve me and that he is really not at all happy that I've put the order through him. It's a thoroughly painful and unpleasant experience and just leaves the rest of the time at the cafe not quite right. I'm so tired of being treated with such disdain every time I turn up and to add insult to injury, he was very rude to my friend who was insisting on paying for me. He quipped in with a "I don't care who pays as long as someone does" which was delivered with a solid dose of passive agressiveness. My poor friend who is a very gentle and sensitive soul was left quite shocked and upset at how she had just been treated. The unprofessional response was completely unnecessary and an inappropriate way to talk to a women, let alone an older one who was just being kind. This man should not be at the front of house. He just doesn't have the skills to deal with customers and the unfriendly response every time you turn up is completely off putting. We only go for the amazing food, beautiful location and the lovely young staff who are fabulous. This man is ruining and otherwise an almost 5...
Read moreDear Wild Canary Team,
I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for the exceptional experience I had at your venue during the hire of your event space and catering services. I recently hosted a pendulum workshop, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations.
First and foremost, the room was exquisitely adorned with fresh flowers, creating a truly enchanting atmosphere. As someone running a workshop where the energy of the space is crucial, the beautiful presentation of the room was of utmost importance, and you nailed it perfectly.
Despite the bustling nature of the restaurant, which is always the case with a fantastic cafe, our room was tucked away, providing a tranquil and undisturbed environment for our workshop. This seclusion was precisely what I needed to ensure a focused and positive energy flow throughout the session.
I must commend your team for their exceptional attentiveness. The girls were consistently checking on us, ensuring we had everything we needed, and even making sure our drinks were replenished. Their dedication to customer service did not go unnoticed and contributed significantly to the overall success of the event.
Now, let's talk about the food – divine is an understatement. The catering was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. It added an extra layer of sophistication and abundance to the entire atmosphere of the workshop.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Wild Canary's event space and catering services to anyone seeking a perfect blend of ambiance, service, and culinary excellence. Your venue undoubtedly played a crucial role in the success of my workshop, and I am eager to return for future events.
Thank you once again for contributing to the magic of the day.

Read moreRecently had lunch for a birthday gathering. 6 women, and not one of us was impressed with our meals!
I ordered this at $28 Farmer’s board Stuffed sweet peppers, falafels, roast pumpkin, heritage carrots, pickles, pumpkin hummus, Coolmunda organic olives, Maffra Farmhouse cheddar, melon, beetroot relish, tzatziki, rosemary & olive sourdough, lavosh
As soon as it came out, I could tell it was going to be unpleasant! First of, there is much too many carbohydrates on this platter: 2 large slices of boring sourdough, 6 sticks of more boring lavosh bread, bland dry boring carrots!, and the worst cheddar cheese (like eating a bar of soap)!!! The pumpkin hummus was a runny miss. The falafel was dry and tasteless, you got a small dollop of tzatziki that didn't taste like tzatziki at all! The pickles weren't special. The roasted pumpkin didn't belong on this platter! The only nice thing on the platter were the olives!
The interior decor to this cafe is lovely. There aren't many restaurants in this area, so people living in this area can't be fussy! That is the main reason it's still busy!!
I've tried 3 cakes with coffee at this cafe before. While they are fresh and attractive, the cakes didn't taste outstanding.
**The platter I described should be removed from the menu. The meals need some work. Suggestion for a vegetarian platter would look like: 2 or 3 types of cheese, olives, roasted veggies of capsicum, cherry tomatoes, pumpkin, zucchini, and eggplants with garlic, onion and seasoning. Gherkins or beetroot pickled sour (Israeli style). Chickpea hummus. 2 or 3 types of crackers (in house preferred). And a green salad with balsamic dressing.
I won't be going...
