My husband and I are fans of Wild Canary for life. We had our wedding at Wild Canary, a small intimate affair and it was the perfect day. Event coordinators Kate and Claire were superb. From the first time we walked in to meet them, we knew we were in good hands and they were people who actually cared about us as a couple and got to know us, not just another number to push through like some of the other venues we looked at. They were so easy to work with, responsive, accomodating and helped us through every step of the way. Wild Canary also shared a lot of our values, for example cutting down on waste and emissions, and they take their food seriously - not only is everything incredibly delicious, but is sourced locally and some of it even grown in their kitchen garden! We've watched the kitchen staff on several occasions come out to the garden and snip some herbs and greens, so we know that it's not just lip service. We married underneath the gorgeous epic Morton Bay fig tree, surrounded by flowers by the incomparable Lynn at Fig Flowers. The service the day of the wedding was impeccable, the food was delicious, and the cake - oh the cake. Stunningly decorated and it tasted even better. All the guest were saying that it was not only the best wedding cake they've ever had, but the best cake, period, they've ever had. Every detail was perfect and we owe it all to them. We cannot thank them enough. If you're thinking about having your wedding at Wild Canary - or even just going for brunch (have I mentioned that the food is incredible?) you will not regret it.

Let’s catch up, we said. Let’s have brunch, we said. Let’s go to Wild Canary, we said, so we did. This café is set in wonderful, leafy grounds, surrounded by trees and bamboo groves. Staff were friendly and efficient (and they actually take your order; unheard of these days) and welcoming. We had cappuccino, and a soy latte and a strawberry milkshake. Hubby said his milkshake wasn’t cold enough (a common complaint) and it wasn’t big enough for him. Coffees were fine, neither here nor there. I ate a delicious, moist, well-sized duck leg with lentils, and beetroot kraut and grilled peach. So tasty and so filling. Really good duck leg! Hubby chose a croque monsieur with mushroom and pumpkin, and a side salad. All good, though he couldn’t discern the truffled béchamel. Miss M. had Gardeners breakfast – a very hearty way to start the day. She had sausage, and eggs, and halloumi and beetroot and beans and mushrooms and sourdough toast. And don’t forget the bacon steak! We really enjoyed the service, the atmosphere, and the food. Shame about the pouring rain, which meant we had to get up and leave, rather than have another coffee. Ah well, next time.

We dined at 12:00 on Easter Sunday - there was a 15% surcharge, which was fair. We had booked the night before. They were busy and it would surprise me if they were spare tables. The setting, inside the nursery, was lush and beautiful. We sat outside and it was very comfortable. The menu was heavily weighted towards local produce and was very health oriented, without being exclusionary. It was broad and I had trouble choosing. There were plenty of beverage choices as well. The staff were super friendly and attentive, taking our drinks order immediately and they arrived soon after, at which time we ordered our food. It also arrived very quickly. My beautiful wife had the pumpkin soufflé and it was light and tasty. I had the duck and it was delicious, without being drowned in sauce. Both of our dishes were magnificently presented. We were drawn in by the dessert cabinet. My wife had an apple cake that was firm and delicious. I had the chocolate cake and it was soft and warm, like a hug from grandma. When we finished, we strolled the nursery and came way with many wonderful plants at fair prices. This was a supreme experience.

I have been eating at Wild Canary for many years and had the benefit of experiencing the wonderful and warm service with the previous owners. I've tried so hard and really didn't want to write this however, my most recent experience was so bad I have been left with no choice. I made sure I spoke to someone at the cafe regarding my experience before I left however I have not heard from them so am forced to write a public review. I always struggle with the front of house male who I have consistently found to be far from friendly. Given I'm a regular and I book under my name, I would have thought a friendly greeting using my name wouldn't be too unreasonable however it's always a grumpy greeting with a 'Yes?' when you arrive. I'm begrudgingly taken to my table and then not even a 'can I start you off with a drink?' and if I dare to ask for a coffee/water while I wait for my friends to arrive, or to just start with, I am let know (non-verbally), in no uncertain terms, that it is not HIS job, that I should wait for someone to come to serve me and that he is really not at all happy that I've put the order through him. It's a thoroughly painful and unpleasant experience and just leaves the rest of the time at the cafe not quite right. I'm so tired of being treated with such disdain every time I turn up and to add insult to injury, he was very rude to my friend who was insisting on paying for me. He quipped in with a "I don't care who pays as long as someone does" which was delivered with a solid dose of passive agressiveness. My poor friend who is a very gentle and sensitive soul was left quite shocked and upset at how she had just been treated. The unprofessional response was completely unnecessary and an inappropriate way to talk to a women, let alone an older one who was just being kind. This man should not be at the front of house. He just doesn't have the skills to deal with customers and the unfriendly response every time you turn up is completely off putting. We only go for the amazing food, beautiful location and the lovely young staff who are fabulous. This man is ruining and otherwise an almost 5...

Dear Wild Canary Team,

I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for the exceptional experience I had at your venue during the hire of your event space and catering services. I recently hosted a pendulum workshop, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations.

First and foremost, the room was exquisitely adorned with fresh flowers, creating a truly enchanting atmosphere. As someone running a workshop where the energy of the space is crucial, the beautiful presentation of the room was of utmost importance, and you nailed it perfectly.

Despite the bustling nature of the restaurant, which is always the case with a fantastic cafe, our room was tucked away, providing a tranquil and undisturbed environment for our workshop. This seclusion was precisely what I needed to ensure a focused and positive energy flow throughout the session.

I must commend your team for their exceptional attentiveness. The girls were consistently checking on us, ensuring we had everything we needed, and even making sure our drinks were replenished. Their dedication to customer service did not go unnoticed and contributed significantly to the overall success of the event.

Now, let's talk about the food – divine is an understatement. The catering was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. It added an extra layer of sophistication and abundance to the entire atmosphere of the workshop.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Wild Canary's event space and catering services to anyone seeking a perfect blend of ambiance, service, and culinary excellence. Your venue undoubtedly played a crucial role in the success of my workshop, and I am eager to return for future events.

Thank you once again for contributing to the magic of the day.

Recently had lunch for a birthday gathering. 6 women, and not one of us was impressed with our meals!

I ordered this at $28 Farmer’s board Stuffed sweet peppers, falafels, roast pumpkin, heritage carrots, pickles, pumpkin hummus, Coolmunda organic olives, Maffra Farmhouse cheddar, melon, beetroot relish, tzatziki, rosemary & olive sourdough, lavosh

As soon as it came out, I could tell it was going to be unpleasant! First of, there is much too many carbohydrates on this platter: 2 large slices of boring sourdough, 6 sticks of more boring lavosh bread, bland dry boring carrots!, and the worst cheddar cheese (like eating a bar of soap)!!! The pumpkin hummus was a runny miss. The falafel was dry and tasteless, you got a small dollop of tzatziki that didn't taste like tzatziki at all! The pickles weren't special. The roasted pumpkin didn't belong on this platter! The only nice thing on the platter were the olives!

The interior decor to this cafe is lovely. There aren't many restaurants in this area, so people living in this area can't be fussy! That is the main reason it's still busy!!

I've tried 3 cakes with coffee at this cafe before. While they are fresh and attractive, the cakes didn't taste outstanding.

**The platter I described should be removed from the menu. The meals need some work. Suggestion for a vegetarian platter would look like: 2 or 3 types of cheese, olives, roasted veggies of capsicum, cherry tomatoes, pumpkin, zucchini, and eggplants with garlic, onion and seasoning. Gherkins or beetroot pickled sour (Israeli style). Chickpea hummus. 2 or 3 types of crackers (in house preferred). And a green salad with balsamic dressing.

I won't be going...
