Old school pub, lacking the modern bells and whstles of the bigger pubs in the main street. But this is why we gave it a try.
Booked in for dinner tonight based on a recommendation from a friend. After travelling half way acros the country we've been to a lot of pubs in the past two weeks. Now it may just be the night we went, the beer garden seems to be the key focal point of the pub but it wasnt open tonight (to be fair, I did ask to sit in the bistro when I booked as it's cold). We also turned up for our table booking just after a large group so had to wait 50 mins for our food. So my review may not be based upon the pub in it's full glory.
Food was decent. I had a chicken Parmi (it's spelt Parma on the menu, I thought we were in NSW not Victoria) The schnitzel was a good size, no compaints there, but the topping was flavourless. A good Parmi needs to have a decent ham representation and tomato favour, this one didn't. Also, the price was on the high side for a Parmi. Was the most expensive one i'd had all trip.
I'm sure this place has more to offer, but a Wednesday night probable doesn't do it justice and i'd been to a lot of great pubs enroute to Broken hill. Not a bad pub, but probable under delivered on my...

Bistro dining room was full so we ate in the bar area. Chicken parmy (half portion) ($24) was delicious. Nicely crumbed real chicken breast, rich tomato sauce and good cheese ratio. Can see why its award winning. Served with hot and crispy potato wedges and a small salad with light vinegar dressing. Portion size was very good, couldnt have had full sized schnitty.
Bangers and Mash ($20) was great value. 2 large sausages, big serve of mash and a rich dark gravy. Good quality sausos.
Best meal in Broken Hill, come here for dinner instead of the Palace Hotel, true local experience not a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJust spent a week in Broken Hill and discovered a great family pub in the Tydvil Hotel⦠also the home of the Broken Hill distillery. Wonderful hosts in Eric, Paul and the team. We had 3 meals here during our week ⦠all excellent. It quickly became our āBroken Hill localā. You must do a tour of the distillery and partake in the Gin tasting. Their award winning gins with a distinct local flavour are available for purchase from the distillery and served in the pub. Service was excellent and the locals very friendly. You must stock up on Nissoās pickles, sauces and chutneys ⦠the hot sauce is awesomeā¦home made by one of the regulars and on sale in the bar. Highly recommended⦠we have stocked right up!!! Can highly recommend the Tydvil....
