Baltimore — Restaurant in Burnett Heads

We originally booked a table for 18, unfortunately two people from two separate families fell ill the morning of our booking, we were unaware of this until 11am they were not coming to our 12 o’clock booking. We turned up at 12 with 12 of us. Were seated by a friendly lady and when she came to take our drink order, we advised this was all of us coming. She was fine but approximately 5 minutes after the very very rude owner came out and practically abused us for not letting them know that some of our table was not coming. He accused us of confirming table numbers the day prior as he said that the number on the booking was contacted but it wasn’t and after us apologising and telling the owner that he walked away in a huff only to return and say that he made a mistake and that we actually weren’t contacted to confirm table numbers. We even said we don’t mind if you move the end of our table over to accommodate more bookings but he said no. A guy on our table also apologised and said we will order more food and he rudely said ‘what another 6 meals’. The food was okay but nothing great. Everyone was pretty annoyed after how he had treated us. The guy from our table that offered to order more food actually gave a tip at the end when he paid just because he felt bad for not us not advising them. Which we understand we should have done but he had no reason to be so rude about it. Lucky the one guy at our table wanted to stay because the rest of us were ready to get up, walk out and go and support another local business in Burnett Heads. Won’t come back ever again purely due to the rude service from that man. The two ladies that served us food and drinks were nice, so...

I find the location to be beautiful. With golden sunsets overlooking the river. A nice variety of food that is prepared perfectly 90% of the time. The quality of food is also near perfect. Meal sizes will leave you struggling to walk after and well-priced for all this in mind. They also cater for a variety of options such as combinations and cooking styles that are different to menu on request. The venue itself is very charming depending on your taste. My only criticism is the communication between the customer and kitchen that has regularly gone pair shaped. Wrong sauces, missing sauces, sauces put in/on wrong part of plating, missing orders, food not always cooked as requested and when returned still has been wrong. Either the waitresses are not writing the full order down as stated or the kitchen is not interpreting what is written down correctly or missing it all together at times. Sorry guys. I’m going to echo a similar review below. I visited Baltimore’s today and honestly, I felt like the owners literally hated me being there. There wasn’t one interaction where I even remotely felt welcome and it started from the phone call to make the booking, to when I paid the bill.

I don’t know if it’s the stress of COVID or they just plain hate owning the place, but I left thinking I’d never go back, and I’ve been going to Baltimore’s infrequently for maybe 15+ years.

To the owners, I’m sorry for COVID. Everyone’s feeling the pinch. But don’t take it out on the people coming out for a meal. I’ve felt more welcomed at McDonald’s than I did at your restaurant tonight and that’s not an exaggeration. I would rather you just closed the doors and told me to get out than treat me like you hated my presence like I was cancer.
