Fish on the Edge — Restaurant in Burnie

When on holidays, we visited Fish on the Edge for an evening meal. We noticed when we walked in there was about 2 couples dinning in and about 5 people waiting in the takeaway area. Once we placed our order, including surname, we were informed it would take about 55 minutes to cook,. So we decided to wait on our car. My husband rentered the restaurant about 5-10 minutes prior to the time given. He noticed another couple walk in to pick up an order. They walked back in about 5 minutes later with their order and said this is the wrong order. Another 10 minutes later my husband picked up our order, which had been opened. Went to Fish on the Edge in Wivenhoe today. Having been for dinner a few times and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We were expecting to enjoy our take away outside in the sunshine.

There are no visible signs saying no take away at outside tables, and the restaurant was not overly busy. So we were a bit taken aback when a staff member advised no take away to be eaten there and it’s a different price if you want to. ( another staff member-who took my order-had already passed us twice and not mentioned anything).

Having already paid $29.00 for a serve of shark & chips ( chips were over cooked and dry and the fish pieces were no bigger than a lamington) I certainly wouldn’t pay any extra and won’t be going back.

OMG what do I say ... The food is AMAZING and the staff are bloody amazing as well. So friendly and polite and very welcoming . They don't pester you as soon as you sit down. The place is warm and very relaxing atmosphere. Helen and her staff do an awesome job. Love the cold rolls and the salad is a huge size. I had half and it's like a full serve. The fish and chips are cooked to perfection and not over cooked or too oily. You can choose battered, grilled or crumbed. Sweet potato fries 😋😋 oh how I missed them from the mainland. They even have kids menu and the prices are good. Icecream for after the kids finish to. I kid you not drop in if ever passing thru. Best to ring and book. Just go and find out for yourself..
