Google reviews have misled me to this place. I always try to give a positive review whenever possible but I feel obliged to inform others of the real quality of the food here. Service was okay, I could see that one staff at the counter tried her best to serve the customers on time, but we still had more than 15mins of wait. There was very little smile on her face, too much stress working solo, maybe? I guess that's okay considering I was on a holiday, so no rush.
Onto the food, I don't get why ppl are rating them 4-5 stars. Just look at the burger pics. The chicken burger patty was smaller than the ones from Macca's and the amount of mayo was... urm... thrifty? Fish and chips didn't come with any tartar sauce unless you particularly ask for some. Hamburger was less than ordinary. To be fair, all the burgers I've eaten in Sydney were better, so if the food here is rated as 4-5 stars, then those in Sydney are like 7 stars? For perspective, burgers in Maccas are on par if not better.
Surely the food here is not bad. It's just really ordinary to me. If you don't have high expectations for food, you will be probably be happy here. Also, the toilet was in a poor condition that I'd rather...

Read moreAs iconic as the name is, "Garden of Roses" wasn't up to expectations. Went there for emotional memories of 50 years ago. Building was ok but service was poor. No idea of how to smile and greet customers. On arrival a "Hi, how are you?" got a blank look and "Yes please." Food was acceptable but "Sybil" had obviously missed her happy pills for the day, maybe even a week. Noticed later in RE window it was for sale. Let's hope the next owner can put a bit of "happy" into the place, it deserves...
