I arrived Monday 5pm to get some fish and chips and the general store was closed though Google mentioned it was open to 7pm (maybe that was the Tavern only).

I went around to the side to the Tavern instead for dinner feeling a bit unsure and hesitant, as I walked in I was greeted by Beth the friendly waitress. It automatically put me at ease as she was welcoming and happy to answer all the question I had.

I was able to order fish and chips, as well as pick up some bait from the general store.

While I waited for the food my son and I chatted to friendly locals who were happy to share lots of interesting stories.

The fish and chips were delicious and my son and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.

If you are in the area want a local country experience this is the place to visit. The place may be rustic and dated however all the people are friendly and welcoming. Be sure to ask questions about there life as they are interesting and...

We went to this place for dinner as we were staying in one of the cabins across the road. It's a great little pub with some locals holding up the bar. We were there the night prior to the Cut @ the Cape which is something you just have to see to believe. Drinks are fairly priced and ice is offered to keep your wine cold. The best thing about this place was the surprise Thai eatery in the dining room next door. The same menu is available in the pub as well, so that's where we chose to eat. We ordered a burger off the bar menu as well as crispy pork belly with chinese broccoli. There was no chinese broccoli to be seen (zucchini in it's place), but the meal itself was great. Serving sizes are not huge, but perfect for me and the burger was reportedly delicious. Staff are really friendly and make this place a great...

We stopped at the tavern for a meal after returning on the 6:00pm ferry from Kangaroo Island. The place was packed and we found out that they were short of staff which didn't auger well for being fed within a reasonable time. However, we couldn't have got it more wrong thanks to Mel, the super woman. She made sure we were looked after, despite the fact that she was being rushed off her feet. Sure, we had to wait a little while, but not all that long, all things being equal. And when Mel brought out the meals they were all delicious - the Panang curry, the mini seafood and the chicken schnitty. Well done Mel, and the Cape Jervis team - we think you're all...

Good cooked food at the general store. The pies on the shelf were already expired. So we ordered freshly made chicken snitzel burger which is $9.90 per one. It’s pretty big and worth the price. You get an egg, bacon, and the chicken snitzel as well in the burger. The general store has some quick snacks and drinks you can buy off the shelf. The restaurant next door opens between 12-2pm and 5-7pm from what I remember. But you can use their washroom facility of needed. This is the only place to have some food after passing port Noarlunga. Plenty of parking at the place and they even have fuel.

With no where else to get food and a spontaneous trip here around lunch time we were desperate to fill our rumbling tummies and order some plain hamburgers for around $7 each. While we had to wait a while to have our order taken, and then for it to be cooked (which they apologised for), it was one of the best hamburgers (with salad and cheese - so not very plain thankfully) I've had in a very long time. A delightful find!

This is the second time we’ve been here and we absolutely love the Aussie vibe in this quiet country style tavern. Very friendly service, Phil was personable, humorous and helpful with providing local tips. Food was great! We asked for our fries to be well done and they came out perfectly crispy. Our burgers and schnitzel were tasty.
