Update: While previously providing a solid 4-star review 3 years ago, things have clearly declined. Taking reviews like this seriously, it took hours to decide on whether it's a 2 or 3 star review. The takeaway last night consisted of 4 curries. Due to the very little meat within the curries, we played a fantastic family game, where you try to find the meat amongst the large amounts of sauce, and if successful the family will applaud and award you one point. For the butter chicken the most we could score was 4-5 points. The meat curries had so little meat that it could be classified vegetarian.
3years ago- The Indian pantry is a delight to both the nose and the tastebuds. Water glasses were pleasing to the touch with great mouth feel. The wine bucket was able to comfortably fit the Chardonnay with adequate ice supplied. Plates were of perfect temperature, shape, colour, and quantity. The service was beyond expectations with all three pieces of cutlery provided. Food and staff were also excellent. We...
Read moreThere is something special about INDIAN PANTRY. This place is where your taste buds go to party. The menu reads like a love letter to fusion cuisine, and the execution doesn’t disappoint. The lamb rogan josh was tender and deeply spiced, with notes of clove, cinnamon, and chili that linger beautifully. Their paneer tikka was grilled to perfection—smoky, soft, and served with tangy mint chutney that I wanted to bottle up and take home. A hidden gem for anyone craving real Indian food and a place that turns dinner into an...

Chicken biriyani was, as my wife said, "more like Italian food than Indian food" - no discernible spices, so much so that it was like eating chicken rice not biriyani. Malai kofta was slathered in a rich cream sauce that was orange in colour but again lacked any spices. Garlic Naan was greasy and undercooked, with very sparse flakes of garlic.
Sad to say this because the staff are super friendly and interior is cosy and warm.
And no offence to the other reviews but if you think that this is good Indian food, you have a plethora of other fantastic restaurants in Australia to transport you to culinary bliss. Babu Ji in St Kilda Melbourne comes to mind...
