China Tea Club — Restaurant in District of Canberra Central

Driving from Gungahlin expecting quality takeaway food after reading so many good reviews. Well, how wrong was I. Our order of King Island Beef with Pepper and Honey sauce was totally inedible. The overpowering of pepper in this dish and the total absence of any flavour of Honey left us with no option other to dispose of it in the bin. The "Special" fried rice was nothing else other than what seemed to have been left over steamed, not fried rice with a scattering of tasteless tinned shrimp of some kind, a handful of chewy meat (definitely not Ham) cubes and 5 or 6 Peas. The rice was overpowered by a strong chemical taste. I have never tasted rice like this before. It made the Beef taste even worse when I tried to mix it together to lessen the overpowering pepper. We shared the Combination Chow Mein which was the other dish we ordered. Mostly consisted of chewy Beef, Chicken and only 2 mid sized prawns. We also had steamed Dim Sims for entree. Lets face it, it's not hard to whack a couple of packet Dim Sims in a microvawe and charge $2.50 each for them. Being highly disappointed is an understatement and a total waste of $70 and the fuel and effort to drive there from Gungahlin. I can only assume this meal was prepared by a inexperienced Chef or Cook as I am sure they would not eat this food themselves. I will definitely NOT be returning to this establishment for either takeaway or dine in food and will also definitely advise any one I may know of considering wasting their hard earned money there to avoid under all circumstances. I find it difficult to understand an establishment of this long standing wanting to dish up such rubbish food and I will be calling them today to let them know how I felt...

Appalling service and customer care. I ordered a delivery at approximately 5.23pm via Uber Eats with a 5.50 to 6.10 delivery time. Finally at 6.30 I rang to see what was happening. I was told my delivery would be about 15 minutes as it had already left which I feel is simply a standard response. At 6.55 I called back when it hadn’t arrived I was told it was a problem with Uber confirmations. I queried that surely the food wouldn’t be hot or fresh given it had been at least 30 minutes from when it left. I was told it stayed hot for an hour. He called back several minutes later and told me they would be here in 5 minutes. Then he told me I could cancel if I wasn't happy. Which I immediately did but couldn’t do as food was enroute. Arrived cold, soggy, sweaty and disgusting definitely not worth the $80 it was a disgrace. Don’t order...

Totally disgusted with the customer service. I ordered one piece of prawn toast for my 12 year old son and got half a piece.this is the only item my 12 year old eats from this menu that clearly states one piece not half a piece. This was my son’s entire dinner. I’m a single parent and delivery is a massive treat for my household. I called the china tea club directly and they would not rectify the order after admitting the menu says one piece, not half a piece. His only answer was to order again and order 2 pieces and pay another delivery fee. I have been totally misled and now my son doesn’t have enough to eat tonight, I will not be ordering from this business again as the response was totally pathetic and now I have a child who is crying...
