Located on Geils Ct, there is a large parking lot across the street enabling easy access to the cafe. As you approach the cafe you will notice a courtyard with ample seating and umbrella shades. Dine indoors or out, the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable.the decor is modern yet classic, and the cuisine is similar. There is a cabinet with ready made focaccia, sandwiches and the likes. The counter also has an abundance of tempting treats - large lamingtons, creme doughnuts, slices, muffins and protein balls. On the all day menu that goes to 2.30pm, there are classic scrambled eggs through to french toast with Mascarpone and pecans, to modern takes such as a bagel with pulled pork, poached egg and hollandaise sauce. Offerings for drinks include a good section of coffee, tea, smoothies, hot chocolate. Feel like wine and cocktails that's there also. I guess you could stretch to an espresso martini for your breakfast coffee! There are also specials avail able. There is table service and staff are friendly and welcoming. They will stay open later than closing time if patrons are still enjoying their time there. You won't be pushed out the door. Definitely worth a visit and more. Outdoor seating is now under a large awning for diffused light and shade. Deakin & me is open on public holidays and the usual 15% surcharge applies on public holidays. There is a 10% surcharge on weekends also.

I had the pleasure of hosting some friends visiting from Adelaide and we chose to explore some new cafes in Canberra. We stumbled upon Deakin and Me, situated in the heart of Deakin, and it was an excellent choice. The cafe was bustling when we arrived, but one of the attentive young staff quickly found us a seat, presented us with menus, and took our drink orders. I opted for a refreshing juice, while my friends indulged in morning cocktails. We were delighted to see that they had just rolled out their new Spring Menu. I chose the Chicken Salad, which was a gluten-free option featuring roast chicken, charred radicchio, chickpeas, celery, pear, walnuts, red onion, pecorino, and a unique apricot honey mustard dressing along with paragon mayo. It was absolutely delicious. My friends chose the Eggs Benny with house-made Cajun hollandaise sauce and another version with MOJO braised pulled pork and chorizo, both served on local sourdough. Both dishes received high praise. Deakin and Me offers a cozy atmosphere, attentive service, and a diverse menu that caters to various preferences. It's a must-visit when you're in Canberra.

Would I come back here? . . . Yes. Entering the cafe I was a bit confused if you're meant to wait to be seated or you just sit down. There was no sign so we just went and took a seat. As there was no menus at the front we were thinking oh maybe it's just the food in the cabinet? But then a staff member came over with menus and water. We ordered coffees and once delivered, ordered breakfast. The food was really good! Came out in good time and the cafe was clean. Waiters all seemed a bit anxious, like they all are quite new at this so be kind to them. Did make me a bit nervous that they all tried to just remember the orders rather than write them down straight away. But food came out as ordered. Another thing is that in the bigger carpark, there are free spots so keep an eye out for that. But yes I would go back and try some of their sandwiches and the rest of the menu. Was alright pricing as well!

We had Mother's Day lunch here and although one of my sons had a nice brunch my other son and I chose from the limited lunch options and we were very dissappointed. The bun on my son's chicken burger was soggy and my snapper was hard, tasteless and dry on a pile of sloppy vegetables Both meals were very unpleasant to eat. My son insisted I shouldn't complain at the time but I called the next day to give some feedback. I was told sorry, it was very busy and no-one else had complained. They can't do anything about it now, I should've said something while I was there. As I mentioned, it was for Mother's Day and I didn't want to embarrass my son by complaining. I have since heard from someone who lives in Deakin that it's true, breakfasts are their specialty. Perhaps they should just offer all day breakfasts and sandwiches. We won't be going back. **After seeing your response below, I'm not interested in all the excuses. When I spoke to you, you had the opportunity to make it up to me by simply offering a complimentary breakfast at a later date for my son and I. Even places like McDonalds are happy to do that when a customer has complained about a sub standard meal. To call me unfair and to go on about standing by your decision 48 hours later to do nothing to resolve the situation is mean, unprofessional and inappropriate. I stand by my recommendation that your establishment is a great place for breakfast/ brunch (and I've heard , sandwiches). The potato rostis are delicious. However, I would definitely avoid the chicken burger and the snapper. We found them to be very bad choices. You should think about a more appropriate response to dissatisfied customers, regardless of when you receive the feedback, if you want people to come back to dine there...

Reason for final rating of 🌟🌟🌟•5.

The cafe was very busy but found us a table outside which was just being cleared.

I ordered Eggs Florentine.

The eggs were poached well with runny yolks and the albumen cooked to white, presented on single piece of sourdough loaf. Big tick on the amount of hollandaise sauce as well as the execution. Unfortunately, one piece of bread wasn't enough to fully enjoy my brunch so an additional piece of toasted sourdough was requested. It was brought me in under 10 minutes. Potential Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟•5

My complaint = - 🌟🌟•5

The wilted greens, directly under my poached eggs, were unpleasantly VERY COLD! First minus = -🌟•5 New total: 🌟🌟🌟

Because of the above, the eggs, sauce and toasted sourdough had also cooled down significantly which didn't bode well for an enjoyable culinary experience. Second minus = -🌟 New Total: 🌟🌟•5

Amendment: +🌟 Because of the flavours and perfectly poached eggs (even though cooled) plus the additional piece of toast I ordered was delivered straight out of the toaster, I moved my uneaten poached egg to it thus bringing the total back up to: Final Rating:🌟🌟🌟•5

N.B.: Companion had eggs Benny; the bacon was hot and crunchy as was the toast so his meal...
