I have mixed feelings leaving this review as I was due to write a good review. The place is lovely (noisy location with planes landing next to you so perfect to go with kids - they’ll be entertained and no one can complain about noise as it blends in with the planes) and the food is phenomenal. Even a simple avo toast is glorious - I would recommend visiting. I think this is one of the best spots to eat in Airlie and good value for money - you can just take the bus to white harbour and hop off so easily accessible from the town as well and the bus fare for full day is only $1.
The reason for the 1-star is that I’m so upset this moment and have tears in my eyes over what happened there with my toddler. My mum and 2-year-old visited today. The ordered hashbrowns arrived and they were burning hot so my mum grabbed them from in front of my toddler to break them down to start cooling so my toddler can eventually eat them. As she was doing that she did not notice that the babychino was served and left in front of my daughter. Obviously my 2-year-old starts drinking it and it was served so hot this time (we come here weekly) that her tongue and mouth burn. She gets scared and hurt when the drink burns her mouth and accidentally drops the drink on her crying that she’s burning. My mum quickly grabs the water from the table and pours it on her to prevent her skin from burning. I hope this message is shared within the cafe that babychinos are warm drinks for children but please try not to make them boiling hot or if the drink is temperature a child cannot drink please do not leave it in front of them please it’s a safety issue. Parents are only humans and so is your staff, mistakes happen both ways. When my mum told me the story I asked if she did complain and she said no but they got a new drink. I don’t think that’s good enough and also I’m hoping this can be the only time this happens but it can’t be if the staff is not aware that this happened in the first place, hence the monologue. My mum and toddler will be back next week, hoping no one burns and they can enjoy their time...
Read moreI was really excited to visit this little café after it was recommended to us by the staff at the park next door. The atmosphere is great, and it’s such an amazing experience to feel so close to the planes. My boys and I were really looking forward to it.
Unfortunately, the service let the experience down. While the young girl who served us was lovely, another staff member was quite rude and made us feel like a burden for simply ordering breakfast and coffee. With renovations going on there wasn’t much seating available, which wasn’t a problem for us, but when we politely asked if we could sit in the front area we were met with eye rolls and huffs.
I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but this was disappointing as I had been so looking forward to enjoying the planes with my boys. The setting is fantastic, but sadly the attitude of one staff member left...

What a hidden gem this place is - this cafe is located at Whitsundays airport - a 10 min ride out of Airlie.
We went with locals who live in Airlie Beach & come out frequently to the cafe which is airside so if you are a plane enthusiast this is a great place to sit & watch planes come & go.
We ordered 2 steak sandwiches & a plate of chips, the food was fresh & cooked to perfection. We enjoyed a few cold beers & watched the planes.
Bronwyn was our server & she was very friendly & checked in a couple of times to make sure we were okay.
They are doing extensions which will provide additional outdoor seating. Current seating about 30 people so will be good when extensions are completed.
Highly recommend this cafe /bar for fresh food cooked to perfection & be entertained by the planes heading out to the reef...
