We last visited here in the B.C. times (before covid). That was late 2019 - great to see this joint is still in operation. With the adjacent campground currently closed post TC Alfred, it's the quietest I've seen Amity - and I've been visiting here on and off for decades.
Food and atmosphere is exactly as I remembered - simple, affordable and unpretentious pub grub. Wednesday is currently parmi night - my wife is a big schnitzel fan but went for the Hawaiian parmi due to the price point. After some deliberation, I opted for the Inferno parmi. Old mate in the kitchen when asked said "it's pretty f**kin hot!" - who can argue with this testimonial. The kitchen now has EFTPOS that was lacking last visit.
Meals were served in a reasonable timeframe, and certainly generous for the price point. Mine was nicely spiced but not to the lofty calibre indicated. Constructive criticism - my wife loves her vegies and the kitchen indicated these are only available two nights per week, otherwise salad is the only option. The gravy ($2.50) was a gloopy sludge.

Then to top it off, we sat on the outside veranda and even though we were warned of the Kookaburra, it swoop on our meal knocking my beer off. The staff were kind to come and see if we were ok, no mentioned of replacing the beer and the only comment made by them was that the Kookaburra usually doesn't come during the evening!

You are not an r.s.l and you are positioned on an island on a beach and you expect people to apply dress edicate without any signs.
You lost a customer before you even had one.
Finally this was never your island in the first place you took it and called it your own remember that.
The aboriginal people have been the only ones who have shown me any kindness or civility since arriving...
