What a great pub. Unabashed in every sense of the word. Proper pub with proper people. All sitting at the bar enjoying themselves. Made this blow in feel very welcome. Hats off to Julie, Ruby and Jade. Julie was a wealth of knowledge of the area and had great banter. Ruby the new girlā¦ā¦. couldnāt fault her if I tried. Was polite, accomodating and eager to learn and provide the best possible service she could. Good luck with picking your University options. And Jade, albeit a brief interaction, was definitively a fantastic bar manager. Took the time to introduce herself and make me feel like a local. Speaking of locals. Great mob. Not once did I feel out of place and all said Gāday. Had the T-Bone. Was made aware of a potential long wait due to an influx of orders in a short span and Julie was on the ball with that and was apologetic when she need not be. Steak was cooked to perfection. Hats off to the chef. All in all. Probably the best pub experience Iāve had for the longest time. Thank you to the staff and the locals for making me feel very welcomed. When in Gundagai. Please visit this pub. Itās a proper pub in every...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCalled here for evening meal in Dec 2019. Open till 20:30 for food which is good for country Victoria.
Fairly extensive menu, both the wife and I immediately went for the flatfish and chips. Very Good.
Proper chips, I detest French Fries, us brits sent a guy called Raleigh to America to discover the Potato and Tobacco, we kept them a secret for years, until we discovered neither were good for your health.
At this point we told the French and they "invented" French Fries and Gauloise, killed more of them than Wellington managed.
Enough ranting, feel free to visit this excellent country pub, family friendly, good value counter meals, friendly staff and a wide selection of beverages to assist in the formation of your next hangover should you so choose.
We dropped them a * only because we visited on a Monday and it was slightly lacking in atmosphere, sure it would be much more fun at weekend, book...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVery pleasantly surprised. When I walked in at 6pm on a Saturday night, the place was full and buzzing. I asked if there was a possibility of a place for one somewhere, and the very helpful staff found me one. There was about a half hour wait for the meal but it was obvious they were flat out, so I was happy to enjoy a drink. The seafood platter was beautiful. I usually expect the (frozen) prawns to be crisp beyond edible but the whole dish was cooked just right. Along with a fresh garden salad and Coleslaw with crispy chips, it was a decent size meal for $25. The thing that stood out was how happy the staff were. They were all smiling and helpful, considering it was so busy. It will be my "go-to" every time I stay overnight in Gundagai. Congratulations to the Lotts Family hotel- you are a credit to...
