We just had a wonderful dinner here with my boyfriend. When we arrived, the kitchen had already closed due to no bookings or walk-ins on a Saturday night — which is such a shame because both the food and service are absolutely amazing. Michael (who I believe is the manager) kindly asked the kitchen if they could still serve us, and thankfully they agreed.

Honestly, we had read some mixed reviews beforehand and didn’t have high expectations ( that's why we didn't take any photos) — we were simply looking for the closest place to grab a meal, as we were staying nearby for two nights. But we were pleasantly surprised!

We ordered the Vegetarian Pizza ($19.50) and the Creamy Prawn Fettuccine ($26), and both dishes were fantastic. The pizza was generously topped and, instead of a traditional tomato base, it used sweet chilli sauce, which surprisingly worked really well and added a delicious twist. The pasta was exactly what I was craving on a cold night — rich, creamy, flavourful and packed with fresh, huge prawns.

The portions were very generous and definitely great value for money. The menu isn’t huge, but it has all the essentials: pasta, rice dishes, stir-fry noodles, schnitzels, pizzas, and more. The restaurant itself is clean, spacious, and comfortable.

It’s really unfortunate that they don’t have more guests, especially considering the motel was fully booked. But if you’re looking for somewhere cozy with hearty, comforting food and excellent service, I would absolutely...

The service staff are very attentive and lovely and the restaurant does have great views.

We were disappointed with the food and general cleanliness of the restaurant however. One of our drinks glasses was stained with lipstick and it took the server a few goes to find a clean glass. The carpet needed a vacuum, there were visible cobwebs, with the whole place just needing a good clean.

We had ordered chicken parmas and the nasi goreng. The nasi goreng was prepared with frozen vegetables and seemed like it just has been flavoured with soy sauce. The Parma had a bit of shredded ham (the kind you buy for pizza) sprinkled on top of the cheese. The Parma coating was a bit mushy, though the chicken inside was cooked well. The chips were your standard frozen pub chips, and had a lot of really long chips that probably needed more cooking time. The side salad was nice and fresh though.

When asked about whether we wanted dessert, my friend said no thanks we're stuffed and the older man on staff said, there's nothing better than a stuffed Irish woman. I'm sure he felt it was a funny comment but we found it inappropriate and it made us uncomfortable.

We had expected more from the meal based on previous reviews and the $30 cost per main. The portions are generous, but overall the quality just wasn't...

What a fantastic experience. Brilliant food and amazing wines. (Very tasty Gnocchi and the Affogato is a MUST for dessert). You can't beat the service (stellar hosting in the dining room by Restaurant Manager Brad and his serving team) and the food was perfectly prepared (they have an amazing chef). The ambience is casual yet quaint, white tablecloths, comfy chairs - the service and food are definitely 5 star yet affordable, and excellent local wines (Grampians region). There's a Kangaroo meet and greet during dinner, and numerous kangaroos and other wildlife on the grounds. We think this is a perfect place to relax away from Melbourne for a few days - and overseas tourists would love it. (We're from Melbourne and regularly go back). Motel rooms: basic yet very nicely presented, superbly quiet and affordable (great value/very quiet). Easy parking too right in front of the rooms! Highly recommend for a weekend get away and the Australian experience. Spend several days there if you can - very relaxing...

We came here because nothing else appeared to be open in Halls Gap. A few kms out from town on the right, a long driveway leads you to the motel / restaurant. Watch out for the kangaroos as they are plentiful at dusk. So are the sulphur created cockatoos that perch on the buildings and in the trees with their iconic ‘squack’. The restaurant is a good size and had about 4 tables either guests. Between the four of us we ordered the lamb rack, the pork belly, the steak and a chicken parma. Not cheap, starting at $28 for the parma but the food was very good, the portion sizes generous and the food was prepared relatively quickly. Wine and beer list quite comprehensive. Wouldn’t have the house white - found it somewhat bland. Staff were good and very helpful and generous. Happy for us to split the bill. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Good parking out the front. I’d certainly return again so explore more of the menu.

Really lovely meals, affordable prices, super helpful staff, great ambience and intimate location. The service can be a little slow, but that is due to there being only 1 person in the kitchen. The chef is lovely, so wonderfully helpful. I am vegan and she went out of her way to assist me and create meals off menu so that I had something to eat. The dinners are really good. The breakfast is a little meager - tasty, but you do not get much for your money (breakfast only, can not complain about the dinners at all). Would definitely go back here for dinner!
