Based upon our most recent visit I would have given zero stars if possible. In the 6 years we have been here we have visited many times, sometimes on our own, other times with visiting relatives. The most recent visit was part of a day out with my 84 year old mother in law. It was her second visit to House of Honey during her visit to see us. On this occasion we all had a cream tea. It transpired that, unbeknownst to us, my mother in law then decided to purchase six scones to take away, given that she had enjoyed her cream tea so much. When we queried how much the scones were she advised that she had paid $25. We advised that at over $4 each (when a cream tea was $7.50) this was very expensive but, as she felt somewhat embarrassed, she insisted that we didn't intervene at the time. I spoke to the assistant manager a day or two later and expressed our disappointment that, if that price was correct, the H of H staff had not checked with my mother in law and perhaps draw her attention to the fact that this wasn't exactly a good deal. As mentioned earlier, she is 84 year old and unfamiliar with the UK / AUS currency conversion. The assistant manager advised that they were "not at liberty" to highlight how expensive the scones were and that it could be considered rude to do so. I advised that this was nonsense and that the damage done in not pointing it out has far outweighed any damage that might have been done had they done the right thing and pointed out the folly of purchasing take away scones at that price. After seeking my advice on how to run her business, but refusing to agree to a commercial arrangement for me to impart such advice, the assistant manager acknowledged that she wasn't handling the call well and undertook to pass the matter on to the owner and get them to call me. They didn't, which is just as well because, judging by the responses to other negative reviews (that come across as sarcastic) allied to the fact that only positive reviews seem to be accepted as true, the likelihood was that any call between the owner and myself would end badly also. In summary, we won't be rushing back and, if we were to take visiting relatives there again we will keep a close eye on what they are buying and, more importantly, what they are being charged. We left with a bitter taste in our mouths, which was the last thing...

The House of Honey & The Sticky Spoon Café is a lovely spot in Swan Valley with a lot to offer — especially for honey lovers. The setting is rustic and peaceful, surrounded by native bushland, and the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. The honey tasting experience was the clear highlight of our visit. The variety was exceptional — from creamed to infused honey — and the staff were knowledgeable and generous with samples. We ended up purchasing several jars, and it’s clear that a lot of care and passion goes into their honey.

The café food and coffee were generally good. The regular menu items were enjoyable, and the coffee was well brewed. However, a few issues held back the experience from being a full five stars.

First, the gluten-free food was disappointing. I tried the ham and cheese sandwich and the scone, and both were underwhelming. The textures were dense, dry, and unappealing, and the flavors didn’t come together well. I appreciated that gluten-free options were available, but unfortunately, the execution needs serious improvement.

Second, the entire café is outdoors, with no indoor seating available. This made the visit quite uncomfortable during winter — it was very cold, and there was no adequate heating provided. Some form of outdoor heaters or sheltered seating would go a long way in making the space more pleasant in colder months.

Lastly, cleanliness could be improved. The cutlery containers were noticeably dirty, and we found cobwebs near the water dispenser area, which was off-putting. The baby chairs were also placed in an unsheltered outdoor area, and bird droppings and other stains. While the overall environment is charming and rustic, basic hygiene standards need more attention.

That said, the staff were friendly, the service was quick, and the honey store was outstanding. This place has great potential, and with a few improvements in food quality, heating, and cleanliness, it could easily become a five-star destination. I’d still recommend a visit — especially for the honey — but with a few caveats for those coming in winter or with...

I have just experiencing a very bad customer service! She is asking for extra $0.20 per paper bag if we requested extra bags. We had bought over hundreds dollar of honey for gift and we receive this kind of services? That is very rude !!! Anyone received this kind of service or just me ??!! I had been there and bringing my relative there for so many times and never experience this. This is sick ! Reply to Kim and Atria:- Thanks for taking your time to respond me back. I support the sustainable policy but I believe it should be clearly written that 20c applied to extra paper bag due to the company's policy to be environmental friendly. This will minimise the misunderstanding. I was not given any explanation too and most importantly the customer service attitude make us felt treated badly. Some bags were also packed with too much weight that we were worried it may break while carrying them. As locals here, we often brings our friends and family from interstate and overseas visiting here, we want to spread out the awesome products that WA has like the honey in the Honey House. A bag with the company logo will be very pleasant to send out to friends and relative and at the same time it is promoting your company for those that have not known about it. For the amount we bought, there could be a bit more flexibility. I was also told that the promotion goods like the cider with honey (2 for $40) and we bought 6 bottles on top of others honeys . Those ciders couldn’t be included into the loyalty card and we have to choose either loyalty card or promotion. This again, is not written anywhere and it wasn't relayed to us in a nice way. For example, my loyalty card is to redeeming a free honey and promotion item is not included. If the rule is fixed, it will minimise misunderstanding. What we experienced that day was just really poor customer service attitude and we felt not appreciated at all...

The House of Honey in Herne Hill, Swan Valley, is a delightful stop for anyone interested in unique, locally sourced honey experiences. This family-owned business has been producing raw honey for over 30 years, with a strong commitment to sustainable beekeeping and bee welfare. The shop offers a wide variety of honey products—from pure honeys and honey-based sweets to beeswax candles and beauty items—all available to sample before you buy. The attached café is cozy and serves delicious honey-themed treats, including standout honey cake and ice cream with flavors like honeycomb and macadamia. The honey ice cream, in particular, is praised for its smooth texture and subtle, not-too-sweet honey flavor. The meadery is a highlight for many visitors, offering tastings of high-quality honey mead. Service is friendly and knowledgeable, making the visit enjoyable for both locals and tourists. The House of Honey is highly recommended for anyone wanting to try something different in the Swan Valley, whether for refreshments, shopping, or a relaxing afternoon tea.

If you head down to Swan Valley, you won't have time to go through all the wineries and everything to see there. You can skip Yahava, even the Cuddly Animal Farm and most of the wineries, but you shouldn't skip the House of Honey. I mean, who doesn't like honey - and all the permutations of honey? And being in Swan Valley, you should try some of the mead and honey liqueur here as well. You'd probably walk out with a bottle or two. Honey and alcohol make good bedfellows it seems. Aside from all things honey, there is an underrated cafe inside that makes awesome coffee and cakes that would shame most cake shops in town. Would recommend their cheesecake and honey cake. The staff is multi-lingual, which also helps to serve the troop of tourists that you come across every time you come here.
