Usually we grab a crayfish and prawns every couple of weeks during the season on the way home from the airport (partner is an expat in another country), few months ago we spent over $100 for two kids and two adults on fish and chips take away, the fish pieces were absolutely tiny, I’d ordered extra flake for the children but they gave us all the same “fish of the day” which was not to the children’s liking and the crumb was falling off the seafood, very expensive for less than average fish and chips! The local greasy is way better for halve the price and the same amount of grease. Back at the airport today I decided to give them a try again for hot food, 23 degrees and no shade, 3:30 so not a busy time, raced in for a quick takeaway. Noted it was exactly the same price as sit down, however sit down included salad, takeaway was simply the seafood and chips. Given a buzzer as i had the dog in the car I went out to wait, aircon on, aircon off, dog out of the car, dog in the car, anything to try and keep cool. All the while I could hear three staff talking in the kitchen and washing dishes. No other customers arrived, I’m patient, very patient but after 45 minutes of waiting I took my buzzer back inside to find they simply hadn’t cooked my order, no explanation why, no food, simply a refund after 45 minutes and wasting a help of fuel trying to keep the dog and myself cool. I told them my dog and I were cooking outside… still no explanation. I won’t be back, the greatest seafood in Australia wins were simply a Facebook marketing campaign that included a free meal if you vote for them and shared and not a reflection on true quality of the food served or in my case not served. We will be getting all our seafood from the wharf...

BAD ATTITUDE! Please read on to avoid embarrassment.
*Holiday loadings, not made known beforehand.
*Arguments with the proprietor if you want to split a bill, after the meal.
*Restaurant prices for a “retail outlet”, and cafe food/ establishment.
I have worked in customer service for over 30 years;I know what it’s like. But you don’t take your frustrations out on your customers.
Twice on separate occasions, I have seen and experienced the fallout of the pent up rageof, possibly, a proprietor of this business. (Ms Basil Fawlty 😲).
The quality of the food is fine, the establishment is clean, but I’ve had an issue with the salmon steaks being cut into little bits and over cooked; perhaps asking them not to do this in advance would be advisable if like a nice fillet of salmon.
“Restaurant” dining discount cards are not accepted because “this is a retail outlet “. Fair enough, but there was no need to be faced with effrontery. Certainly not all the servers were like this though.
Maybe a kindly explanation of how things work in advance would help everyone. No one wants to stand arguing and holding up other diners...
Read moreThe lobster and oysters are fresh and nice (though the lobster is a bit pricey). I also ordered a few prawns in salt and pepper as they are looked large and fresh in the refrigerator as seen in other reviews. However, I was told minutes later that they can only do crumb prawns at the moment, and this is definitely the most disappointing seafood I had in Tasmania. It's overcooked, the color became a bit grey which I would consider it a frozen food, and also, it's much smaller than the prawns in the refrigerator. I checked with the lady whether they the same prawns, and she told me "it's not the same type but it's still a prawn". Well....at the same price? Consider of the poor quality of the crumb prawns and the response, two stars a would be a maximum.
