We've been several times for food and coffee since the owners took over some time ago, each time giving it the benefit of the doubt, but unfortunately I don't think we will go again. We had breakfast this morning, I asked for scrambled eggs without lactose. The eggs came out mushy, pale & extremely bland. (could have made better at home) and the sourdough was basic white & under toasted. I almost left my dish, but couldn't bother after paying to go home to cook a second breakfast. My partner had poached eggs, his were nice but again toast was more like bread (not toasted enough). We waited 15-20 mins just to receive two coffees when there were barely a handful of customers. Ordered halloumi on the side, came out deep fried halloumi sticks (not grilled as is usually everywhere else). Was literally two sticks for $5!! We weren't attended to again after meals being dropped off. Would have happily ordered another coffee if someone had come to our table. We were never asked during or upon paying how our meal was. Did the staff know that it was less than average quality? Our previous dinner experience was un-satisfying when a pasta dish was cooked with ingredients that had been asked not to be included (allergies), third time lucky (everyone else had long finished their meals) but pasta was soft and definitely not al dente as you'd expect it to be. However staff were friendly and did not charge us for that meal for the inconvenience. The only plus is the location, and the staff are friendly upon entering. The coffee is also pretty good. Would we return again? Maybe for a coffee but not for food. It's overpriced and...
Read moreGreat service and food. It is a nice place to go to. I have been going there many times. And because of that this review is not based on just one or two experiences. I often dined there inside and outside in pretty much all seasons of the year. I love the seafood cower, breakfast pizza, lamb shanks...The service is amazing. Just like it should be. Even coming over to ask if everything is good etc. BUT, I noticed the waitresses kept changing often. They had to learn, didn't know what to do, kept us waiting sometime for long time before anyone aproached us. There was not enough waiters, waitresses. They took off the menu seafood cowder. Later when it came back it wasn't exactly the same. Not even one oyster and not because they didn't have oysters, because they did. And before in my seafood cowder I used to get at least one oyster, sometimes two and a mixture of all the nice seafood. One time the owner was standing not far from us chatting with someone and nobody approached us. As if we were invisible. But those few times did not make me dislike the place. It is still a nice place to go to. Even just for a drink. There's a fire place for the winter, an outside tables under parasols as surrounded with glass to stop the wind. Great location. I highly recommend this place. There is an upstairs for private functions hire. So go and check it out. I think you will enjoy it. You can also take your dog with you,...
Read moreWorst service I've ever experienced at a restaurant.
I was attending a wedding reception, and as the staff began serving food, they placed two plates in front of my dad and one in front of my mom, who were sitting across from me. They started eating, but shortly after, a staff member with glasses approached and stood behind my dad, saying, "You guys are grabbing plates, that's why there isn't enough."
This accusation was completely untrue. The staff themselves had placed the plates in front of my parents – nobody "grabbed" anything. My parents, who understand but don't speak much English, looked at me, clearly confused and uncomfortable, wondering if they were being scolded simply for eating the food that had been served to them.
There was no apology or attempt to clarify the situation. Even if there was a shortage, this approach was deeply unprofessional and disrespectful. If you suspect a count issue, take the host aside and address it privately – don't embarrass guests for something they had no part in.
it’s never acceptable to publicly shame guests over your own oversight.
If you want to avoid such embarrassing moments, train your staff to handle these situations with respect and...
