Venezia Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Hobart

From start to finish we did not have a great experience and would not recommend Venezia to anyone. Confusion about the menu from the wait staff when ordering. We ordered two shared entrees and received them about 15-20 minutes apart. One meal was ordered as a pizza but instead a pasta was provided. From first to last main meal they came out over a 45 minute period. (We were a table of 8) Seafood in the marinara had off cuts from abalone and was rubbery Prawns in sauce had tails left on Pizza bases were soft and did not hold topping One meal on our table was the chicken breast with mushroom and vegetables whilst the vegetables were delicious and the flavour very nice, took chicken breast home as it was to big, found it to be raw in the centre. It took 20 minutes for the FOH staff to enter out bill into the system for us to pay The owner / manager spoke down to the FOH staff when they asked for help A lot of tables were experiencing similar another table waited 20 minutes once seated and had to ask for menus A table of two complained about one of their meals (again two meals deliver at very different times the first person had finished theirs before the second meal was delivered) I’m presuming the owner? Came out and spoke to them like trash, in which ghetto whole dining area could hear, said he had tried the food and it was fine, he is short staffed and to busy for the kitchen to be running smoothly, told the gentleman that if he could do better to come out into the kitchen. The owner/manager had the audacity to say to us when paying “don’t worry the entertainment was free” in reference to the way he spoke to the other customers, to which I replied it wasn’t entertainment it was disgusting, and I got labelled “oh you’re one of those are you?” One of the FOH staff was trying her hardest to get the owner / manager to return to the kitchen whilst he was being rude to customers, I felt extremely sorry for them having to work in that environment.

I’m sorry but if staff, management / owners are having a bad day/night/week it shouldn’t be made known to your customers.

It’s sad that out of many good trips to this restaurant, we definitely will...

To all following me, I ordered pasta and went after half an hour to pick as advised. Upon arrival, i updated my order but they had no idea, called other person and no idea, even called the lady who took the order and updated the name , converaation as allergic to eggs and what was her response and she did not know anything 🙄 which seemed to me like everyone was running like chicken without heads as it was busy. Finally after 5 minuted someone bought the pasta as it was hidden somewhere and I got to take it. Finally at home, the taste of pasta was blend , not really cooked properly and had no flovour and first time I had to leave the pasta half as it was so dry even after we said to add extra sauce. I am just amazed how does this shop has so many customers and have so many good rating. Don't take me wrong but either they have not tasted a nice real Italian restuarant or this is the highest standard they have seen in this city. What a shame! All food was excellent but to the grumpy old man running the place you ought to be ashamed of yourself. You accepted entertainment book vouchers and then changed your mind after payment was made claiming only one per table. It says nothing about this condition in the book. What's more you spoke like an absolute pig and told us to take it up with the entertainment book. If you don't wish to be a part of the book then don't opt in. And by the way sending the youngest member of your staff to do your dirty work for you is also poor form. The worst thing about the experience is that your food is excellent but you have now lost 6 customers due to your poor customer service not to mention all the people we tell about this experience.
