We ALWAYS support local on our travels, but my advice is to give this place a big miss! Quite possibly the worst experience I've had in a retail environment.
The bloke was rude.... extremely rude, unfriendly, unwelcoming and arrogant. I asked him a question at one point about a product and he 'shooshed' me. It was 10.30am and the food cabinet was empty otherwise we would have bought something else. Thank god we didn't. The $30 we dropped into his hands for coffee and strawberries was regretful enough (though the strawberries were amazing) I suspect mostly because he didn't have a hand in producing those!
The coffee was not coffee, rather an appalling concoction of ground coffee, water and thin watery milk. Watched him make the coffee and he didn't even tamp it! How this bloke is in the business of taking money off people for coffee is beyond me. Appalling. We tipped it out, it was that bad. Undrinkable and gross. Mate, you might need a rethink about your future because coffee and customer service surely ain't it. You seem to not realise where your income comes from. Just retire already and go fishing.
Hopetoun is such a beautiful place full of way friendlier people than this guy. Don't let him be your only experience of this...
Read moreSimon's Market Cafe has fresh fruit and vegetables daily. Simon also offers fresh baked goods, seafood and a good range of fresh meats. The homemade vanilla slice and date slice is famous in Hopetoun, worth trying on your next visit. All the standard grocery items are available and Simon has very reasonable prices. Simon also has the best Scotch fillet steak which he can sell to you in bulk or per steak cut to your preference. If you order the fish and chips there is a very nice little seating area upstairs where you can enjoy full 290 degree Seaview's, a real vantage point, while you...
Read moreSimon seems angry for some reason. Poor service for us as visitors to lovely Hopetoun. Other reviewers have said how good your coffee is... I'd guess they would have to either be your friends, or paid for a positive review - absolutely the worst coffee I've had in a long time. My free advice would be for Simon to do a barista course when next in Perth, so as not to serve such awful brown water passed off as coffee. Simon, please remember that customers bring income to your town, maybe at least pretend to enjoy serving people when they are handing over their hard...
