Osteria La Vallata — Restaurant in Kangaroo Valley

We were really looking forward to dining here but unfortunately left extremely disappointed. There was no beef, lamb, or duck available, and when our Prosciutto pasta finally arrived, it came without any Prosciutto at all. We waited over an hour for very small mains, made with what tasted like store-bought pasta, with key ingredients missing from every dish. An entre' didn't arrive after an hour from which we were then told that there were none left. Not good enough.

One of the chicken dishes arrived cold in parts and was left mostly uneaten. To make matters worse, there was no manager on duty, and the staff seemed resigned to how poor the service had become. Drinks service was equally disappointing — we waited 30 minutes just to be served drinks, including water. We are with no further drinks being offered.

As locals and vistors, we had hoped to support local, but this experience was simply not good enough and...

Went for lunch after seeing the great reviews but left very disappointed and will not return. We ordered 3 dishes, 2 of which we didn’t enjoy at all. Wouldn’t recommend this place. Do not order the Pollo Alla Puttanesca (ie the chicken main) - lacked flavour and was extremely dry and tough. We also ordered the gnocchi which was not only incredibly dense and heavy but also had an overwhelming starchy potatoe flavour. We sat outside on the deck and the many tables around used by others hadn’t been cleaned in the time we arrived & left so the wind had blown items (cans ect) from these tables all over the rest of the deck floor. Don’t trust their website booking system which seems to have an error - it allows bookings for the latest lunch spot across a time when their kitchen actually closes(we received a call to inform us of this after we had...

On entry this looked like we were set for a magic birthday evening of service, food and atmosphere. Beautiful layout, chesterfields, table displays, open fires 🔥

Sadly it wasn’t the experience the match

The servers were pleasant & professional.

The food didn’t come in the order requested nor together. They also forgot the bread. No offer of water. No non alcoholic beverages on the drinks menu.

A longer list of aperitifs would be good.

The entreé were cold. The seafood was a small portion and possibility pre frozen. The sauce however was devine.

Our mains the lamb was quite the old lamb 🐑 a lot tougher than one would expect for back strap. The plating was ordinaire.

We were too disappointed to have dresser but enjoyed the rest of our drinks on the sofas by the fire.

Nice evening despite the above.
