Yorke Valley Hotel — Restaurant in Maitland

New to the area decided to call in for lunch, got there 30mins before lunch started at 12 noon so we ordered a drink and took a seat in the restaurant and waited. 15mins later we noticed people where been served food so we guessed the kitcken opened early, that's good so we went to order, we ordered a chicken burger but was told that we can't eat it in the restaurant, puzzled by this I asked, so I can order food from the restaurant but I can't eat it in here?, the lady replied yes that's correct you have to eat it at the front bar. Why can't I eat food I buy from the restaurant in the restaurant? Because of this you lost a sale and future sales. Very poor customer service at the restaurant, bar staff seemed nice...

I've never once in my life experienced such a terrible service in a restaurant. We were just came and I asked politely to the lady in the register if we can sit in the outdoor area. The lady said " it's fine, but you have to be mindful with the other guest! " . I was so shocked. How come a waiter would say such rude judgement words towards their customer? Honestly, if she tried to tell me about good manner, she just have to get a big mirror and look at herself. Are you mindful enough about your words towards your customer? It's just unbelievably shocking how that words can came out of her mouth. Such an unpleasant experience, horrible horrible...

Generous, top quality portions for the price. Easily one of the best counter meals I’ve had in my life, enough to keep me coming back time and again. 😊

My one gripe is desserts aren’t available for takeaway; were this not the case, this review would be 5 stars. A shame, as I’d really like to try their sticky date pudding, especially if it’s as good as their chicken schnitzel packs. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Speaking of which, the Chicken Schnitzel Yorke Valley is my favourite by far: a huge 100% chicken breast, perfectly crumbed and topped with garlic cream sauce and plump, juicy prawns. If I were to recommend any dish, it’s this one...
