3.6 Unusual location attached to a swimming pool and across from commercial businesses in Capel Sound out the back of Dromana. No matter at all. It’s a very spacious and quirky breakfast and lunch cafe with heaps of space between tables. There’s a communal table too. The whole area has a comfortable spacious feel. Good chance this space was once a bowling alley, I reckon. I chose tomatoes on toast with bacon. Not a cheap dish when you add the bacon at $6 but it’s a good dish nonetheless. First off, it’s a lovely looking offering. It looks good on the plate. The cherry tomatoes on the vine were absolutely gorgeous. Plump, juicy and cooked perfectly. They were also really nicely seasoned and also had a light smattering of sesame seeds. The spinach on the toast was cooked perfectly, and was nicely warm and sitting up with plenty of moisture still evident. There was also a very good hummus with the dish as well. I was told later that this is made onsite. My only slight criticisms are that parts of the dish were slightly cool when it arrived and the egg was just over and had no running yolk. These are small criticisms though. I really liked the dish a lot. My partner had the chicken schnitzel focaccia with bacon which she liked without ever becoming rapturous. My long black to finish was quite good. A nice coffee. Service was good throughout. Nice music playing too adding to the happy atmosphere. Interesting place. I liked it and would happily return.

The cafe is quirky inside and looks like it used to be an old bowling alley. Service was friendly enough. Unfortunately the coffee was not good and the food quality was below average. The lady at the counter seemed confused at the request for almond milk and the ‘flat white’ coffee that was served was definitely not a flat white (it came with no foam at al). The tea smoked flaked salmon that came with the eggs benedict tasted overly fishy and the muffins were stale and hard, I couldn’t finish the meal as it was just not enjoyable. Quite disappointing for the typical cafe pricing that we paid.

I would really love to give Blue Mini cafĂ© more than 2 stars but my experience was quite disappointing. When we walked in, we were handed a menu and told which table number to sit at. We had no idea where that was and nobody showed us to our table. The menu said that the Persian salad had a “vegan option” - but it turned out the option was simply to leave out the halloumi. There was no mention that the dish contained a huge amount of dried fruit - which is essential to know if you have a fructose intolerance. The bathrooms are unisex. not entirely fresh, and the huge canisters of heavy-duty commercial soap are an eyesore. The cafĂ© itself is really cute and quirky and I feel it has so much potential to provide a much nicer experience. How about showing customers to their table, stocking some almond feta for vegan customers, dividing the toilet cubicles into male/female and using the nice hand wash that you sell in the store? That would happily change my 2 stars...
