I would rate my experience at De Bortoli wines Yarra Valley as 3 out of 5 stars.

The positives: The food at Locale restaurant was fantastic and deserving of a 5/5 rating. It seems like they excel in providing a delightful dining experience in terms of cuisine. The grounds of the establishment were beautiful and inviting, creating a pleasant atmosphere for patrons.

However, there were some notable drawbacks: The wait staff appeared to be overwhelmed and understaffed, resulting in slow drink service and delayed attention to customers. Waiting for an hour for a drink refill and having to signal for service is not ideal. When it came time to settle the bill, there was a significant wait due to staff being occupied with other tasks, which can be frustrating. The policy of not allowing the remaining balance of a gift voucher to be used in the future, despite a generous 3-year expiry date in the terms and conditions, was disappointing and inconvenient. It resulted in the purchase of $120 worth of wine that may not have been desired or needed.

In summary, while De Bortoli wines Yarra Valley offers a delightful dining experience in terms of food quality and ambiance, the issues with service and the gift voucher policy detracted from the overall enjoyment of the visit. A 3-star rating reflects the mix of positive and negative aspects of...

If I could give no stars, I most definitely would! On the morning of the 31st December 2020 just after 11:00 am, my partner and I turned up for a tasting to start our NYE. We stood at the entrance as signposted to await to be seated. There was 1 tour group that entered before us of 10 people. Inside a queue of 7 people at the bar to buy take always and only 1 gentleman seated at the bar doing a tasting. We stood and waited for 10 mins to be seated at the bar by a gentleman. There were only 2 other female employees that morning also. When seated, 2 glasses were placed in front of us with wine menus. Then from here all 3 staff members ignored us on 6 individual occasions each. Thats 18 potential micro-interactions with no service. We got up and walked away. After coming home with 50+ wines from our trip it’s a shame the very poor service enabled us the ability to not have any De Bortoli involved in that number. Also 3 other tour groups sat outside aimlessly waiting for nothing when we walked out so as far as I can see, staff issues had cost this winery lost sales that morning.

We were also the only dark skinned people in this venue who were being ignored and this...is not how we treat any customers in 2020/2021! PERIOD!

I would...

De bortoli wines, a picturesque view, and a nice place to be with your friends. Unfortunately the staff working in there are big fat Racist. We went there on Anzac day, 25th April 24 for wine tasting and the purchase. When we arrived, there were 2 staff members were serving on the main table and all the stools in front were full. So we politely sat on one of the side tables available, waiting for our turn. We waited for around 20 mins, and both the staff members looked at us and ignored us instead of acknowledging us. And then a group of 2-3 couples with kids came, and they were also looking to be served. And as soon as someone left the main table, the old lady quickly jumped on to the new group waiting and started serving them, ignoring us. Considering that group waited for hardly less than 5 mins to get served. Appalled by the experience, we just walked out. Not the first time we have experienced something of this sort. People says We welcome everyone to Australia but these act differently. I could have gone and talked to that racist old lady and could have said some sour thibgs on her face but we prefer to take high road. Don't want to fall to...

De Bortoli Wine produces a variety of beautiful wines and the quality of dishes for decades. On top of all the excellent customer service staff, qualified👨‍🍳👩‍🍳, quality of food & wine, I found 1 more excellent product this time☝️ The local produced hand soap in the bathroom was SO good💕 Please help sell this soap at the downstairs. It was silky and had citrus fragrance🍋‍🟩. 😲They installed the 4 electric vehicle charging spaces at the carpark👍👏. Beautiful vineyard to start with and the whole vibe that you get when you walk into the cellar to the restaurant is just beautiful. Service is good and the waitress we had on our table may not be too knowledgeable with the menu to match the wine list but we were not fussed. She was really friendly. The food itself is a bit hit and miss. The entree was spaghetti with Moreton Bay Bugs was amazing (I’d ordered that as a main) and so was the Quail. As for the mains, the duck was lovely and I ordered the Gin Pig noisette of Berkshire pork. The skin of the pork had a lot of hair on them and that really put me off. I was a bit shocked that it was served like that. Probably avoid the pork if you can. Luckily the dessert was a saving grace. The cannoli and tiramisu was probably the best with crispy pastry and the good amount of filling. Overall a solid 7/10. Don't know if I would be back, maybe for the Gamay. It is full flavour and easy to drink. Also worth mentioning, it’s a baby friendly place. Lift to go up to the restaurant and change table in the toilets. 🤙🏽
