We ate lunch and we were a party of 2 adults and 2 children.
The person serving us was extremely rude and without really knowing why, I don’t want to speculate. But, I have a fair idea of why.
To be specific and focusing on his actions, rather than the reasons - he was very gracious and chatty to all the tables around us but his attitude to our table was that of extreme rudeness. He didn’t explain the dishes to us, provided no suggestions on pairing, never asked to top up water or wine, literally “threw” the plates on our table and walked away without as much as an acknowledgement or asking for feedback on the meals. I saw that he didn’t exhibit that behaviour to any tables around us.
But, one point for the owner/ reservations team to note is that when a table is given with kids, it doesn’t need to be the worst table in the restaurant, right next to the washroom when the restaurant is largely empty.
I am happy to give further specifics to the owner if they want to contact me.
We left leaving most of our mains and sides uneaten and cancelled our dessert / cheese order.
On paying the bill, I gave the feedback and articulated the reasons why I thought the person was rude. The lady helping me settle the bill was extremely gracious and understanding. She offered to take some amount off the bill and I refused as the effect of the feedback is typically taken away if it seems one is giving it to save some money. On very strong insistence, she offered me a bottle of wine as a sign of apology which I appreciated but didn’t expect. But, at least she tried to make a bad...
Read moreVisited today for first time to Yarra Valley. First vineyard lunch there. The building and vineyard views were lovely. Reception was very friendly and professional the menu looked great- my favourites- Rabbit & Quail. Price was reasonable compared to others- $85 for 2 courses + a side of veges. Wine was nice. Unfortly the food looked good, but was a bit overcooked- especially the pototo gratin, which didnt look good, but rather dry. The rabbit wasnt that tasty, but was beautifully presented.
Also the service was very slow - especially considering that there were only 2 others there. I had to ask the waitress if they had remembered my main. She was not very friendly and seemed to take offence. Also would have been better if the Tasting Flute could have been taken to the restaurant to have with the food. . . .(some people cant drink wine without food, for medical reasons).
Overall a bit disappointing experience, compared to many vineyard lunches I have had in NZ- all superb. So good that I seek them out, as some of the best meals I...
Read moreVery underwhelming I was disappointed with the food the meat platter if that’s what you really want to call it for $42 you only got 5 extremely thin slices of salami and 5 slices of some other meat, a few olives some patte and pickled veg totally got ripped on that dish. My entree with bruschetta yeah it was ok nothing special that’s for sure. My main was a massive let down I had the pork belly the skin was not crispy but they covered it up with garnish like I wouldn’t notice, it was lukewarm to cold inside, mushrooms had very little flavour and not enough purree. The sides I ordered were crispy potatoes and side salad, let’s start with the $12 potatoes the whole 6 small ones we got that where no way crispy more soggy instead, the salad $9 was terrible, very bitter no dressing just oil and very unpleasant to eat. A very disappointing lunch and when you only have a selection of 5-6 mains to choose from you expect something amazing I definitely...
