Kerrimuir Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Melbourne

I don’t want to affect the business with a 1 Star review but need to get this off my chest. I spent $77 on fish & chips to feed a family of 5.

All you have to do is get the fish cooked right and the chips. 2 major items. Lets not worry about the potato cakes & Dim sims.

It was obvious that there was an issue with my order. Other customers came and went while I say sat there looking and waiting if someone would notice this solo bozo. Yes they saw me. Talking in another tongue. Probably asking what the heck is he still doing here. I watched them frantically cook 1 extra piece of fish. I guessed that the order was not complete and they only realised late that the 5th piece of fish was missing.

I think to myself I wonder how my chips are holding up while these people frantically playing catchup? Well you guessed it. I get home we rip open the paper and we got soggy chips. No chicken salt as requested. Just wet chips. As I said earlier you have two major part of the meal to get right. The chips were a fail. A huge fail.

My feedback here isn’t to destroy and put down the business. It’s more about how not every customer walks out happy. I need you to know you should have probably remade some fresh chips knowing the missed items would make the chips go soggy and cold. Dont ask why I’m complaining about soggy chips. I’m complaining because it could have been saved but one mistake after another didn’t help us...

Do you want greasy food? Do not come here then! Let me just say that the chips were superb (even 30min later still hot and crisp, not even a hint of soggy), the 2 'fish bites' I got in a $9.90 snack pack were awesome (I expected nuggets or off cuts and got basically a whole fish!), potato cake was cooked the way I remember as a kid (crisp, not too thin or thick, batter just right) and the dim sim tasted like a dim sim (not greasy, tasteless blob like most places). The seafood pack i had included a very generous piece of blue grenadier, serve of chips, scallop & mussel that were all fresh, crispy & tasty. Although tbh i prefer flake in the packs that most places use so i guess i can ask for it next time. One point off because the oil could've been drained a bit better. I hadn't been here for about 3 years tho because the last owners jacked the prices up alot, but i thought i would have a look again & it seems to be different owners who have much more reasonable prices.
