Started off well, staff were friendly but that quickly changed after we had finished our food. It was quite busy given it was a public holiday so we initially assumed that they were probably overwhelmed with the amount of people, particularly being open before midday.
Had a coffee while waiting for another of our party to show up, ordered food (food was delicious) and then ordered another round of drinks. Got the wrong size coffee (again, wasn't going to make a fuss about it) but one of the coffees was missing so went up to collect it and the barista just threw a teaspoon which hit and bounced off the saucer onto a table and was told "there you go".
Staff member then came to the table and as I was saying the coffee was fine, had it taken out of my hand anyway so a large could be made and brought to the table.
There seemed to be some genuinely happy and friendly staff on today, but unfortunately, we got the very clear attitude of hurry up and get out from our servers, which was a shame because I would have liked to have gone back on a less busy day but I think I'd rather spend my time where customers are...

Food was pretty good taste (had the cheese burger), so was as well presented as a cheese burger & fries can be, but good quality patty & fillings.
Coffee was on the better side of OK. Table service was pleasant & efficient.
Pricing was a little over the top. 3 x cheeseburgers + one coffee & 2 x teas was a total of $78.00 ! - either there was a hidden surcharge for Sunday which Lobbs don't disclose, or they mischarged... I didn't check. Upon reading other reviews now, - it's evident they charge a whopping 15% surcharge for the priviliege of allowing them to serve me food on Sundays ! - food & coffee isn't THAT good to overcome a 15% charge. Avoid on Sundays.
Staff when paying ( think it may have been the owner) was a little arrogant & rude, - nothing too bad, but certain not appreciative of our custom.
Overall food & drinks: pretty good. Overall...
Read moreUpdating my review now that I’ve been frequently visiting Lobbs for the past couple of years. I’ve always felt welcomed walking into the cafe whether they’re all hands on deck busy or quiet. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food is delicious, I’m always keen to try the pancakes specials - usually buckwheat but they’re still fluffy and topped with sweet compote and creams. If you ever see the Apple crumble one, try it. It’s incredible! Ordering a magic coffee when dining in is awesome. Goes well with anything and perks you right up.
Just want to say thanks to everyone at Lobbs for being such a great team and for providing a unique cafe experience in the heart of Brunswick. I won’t ever find another cafe in this area to match the same style, taste and family friendliness that this cafe offers. Looking forward to seeing your friendly...
