Mantellina — Restaurant in Melbourne

Our family had a wonderful weekend away at Cape Schanck, with one disappointing experience at Mantellina Restaurant (RACv).

We were excited and really looking forward to the Saturday night excellent dining experience for a party of six, but the restaurant fell short of expectations.

Food issues: The burnt fish, which looked like a sparse portion, cleverly masked with green leaves, left us underwhelmed. A hard chewy crumbed schnitzel, thickly cut fennel (unappetising salad) and clumpy spaghetti (seafood spaghetti) further added to the disappointment. However, amidst these culinary letdowns, the vegetarian pizza faired well, just a little soggy.

While the kitchen encountered issues during our visit, the attentive service from the servers, particularly from manager Jeremy, salvaged the evening. Jeremy promptly addressed our concerns, waiving the charge for the two servings of the $52 whole fish special. Though we had hoped for a complimentary replacement meal. Still, the overall service of the FOH staff was good.

So unfortunate that the quality & presentation deviated from the expected standard for an RACV restaurant, especially during our mother's birthday celebration.

The FOH staff acknowledged kitchen challenges, re - lack of staff (Saturday evening), providing some context to the lapses. This experience prompts caution for us, re future visits to an RACV restaurant, hoping that they address and overcome their current kitchen issues, especially at...

Upon entry we asked one of the waiter's if we can redeem our Go Green vouchers. The waiter said to take a seat and she'll ask the manager.

Later on another waiter came to ask what drinks we will like and we advised her about our request. She said she will see what the update is. The same waiter returned advising we can use the vouchers for drinks and food.

Upon ordering and finish eating our Pizza, the manager came to our table and informed the vouchers can only be redeemed for drinks and not for food. We advised the manager what the waiter said and the manager said the waiter got confused.

We then decided to order drinks and ordered cold coffees. The cold coffees were rubbish and we threw them in the bin.

There is no chemistry between the manager and waiters. If the waiter has advised something wrong then the manager could have also advised this to us for future and allow us to redeem the voucher. The pizza was $27 and I'm sure it would have made them rich.

We will never return to this restaurant!

We booked to go to Mantellinas yesterday 11th of December to surprise my mum and dad who were there for a big get together with the family. We ordered the seafood spaghetti which cost $42. Five people ordered the same. I received mine and it was cold. I requested they heat it up. The meal was so small and all I got were 3 prawns. The meal wouldn't even have filled a young child to be honest. When I spoke to the manager, he came back to me stating that I had taken the calamari out and put it separatey on a plate. Why would I have done that? After speaking with the other family members they all said it was so small, and had only 2 to 3 prawns and no other seafood. Honestly, the meal was terrible and there was no taste to the seafood spaghetti. It's the worst Italian meal I have ever eaten. It was so dissapointing, especially as it was my mums big birthday and also their 49th anniversary. We got two meals taken off the bill, but seriously regardless of the others having vouchers, as they all stayed there. I would NEVER go there . Worst...
