Meerkat Bistro — Restaurant in Melbourne

The food was nice, we had the margherita pizza and the cheese toastie with chips. We were a bit confuse at first going there. As there was a sign that said wait to be seated but there was no one there to guide us. Then people keep going in and out, so we just went in and took an empty table. Later on we saw the worker just telling people to go and find a table themselves. I think they overcharged for the soft drink and water in the glass. Its $4.50 for 1 glass of soft drink and $2.50 for a glass of water. They give you those cup with a barcode on it and you scan the barcode and then fill the cup. Wow... it was really nice meal. Cant even say zoo cafe. Squid was perfectly cooked. Not rubbery. Not raw. Perfect. Salad and sauce that came with it was perfect too. Lamb ragu pasta was yum... served in nice plates and taste was really good. Not to mention the view you get by meercats next to you 🥰

Only downside was soda vending machine. It times out before you fill the cup. You cant scan label, fill up the cup within 10 seconds unless you overflow with flow with foam. Either you fill it up for us or limit by liquid quantity rather than time. The Melbourne Zoo soda vending machine even...

We tried all plant based options from their menu and everything was badly made. The wrap was wet and soggy uneatable, the pasta was undercooked with no salt/seasoning, plant based nuggets were cooked so bad the coating separated from the middle part and tasted like rubber. When we asked them the pasta was undercooked, they said they'll remake it but it was just reheated and served same as it was. Looks like all are frozen meals heated up served.
