There were 11 of us (5 kids and 6 adults). The place was busy, nearly full capacity at 6:30pm. Sat down and ordered - our meals came relatively quick but unfortunately our friends meals didn't. While they waited for their food, we nearly finished ours. While we ate, there was another round of customers. I could see that they were extremely busy and I can understand that it's hard to achieve great service when everything is happening at once. I hope they can brush up on their service as the food was very good. Atmosphere is clean and comfortable. I will definitely go again.
PS. My European friend was not used to the taste of Wat Tan Hor (Cantonese style Kway Teow). She finds the taste too 'slimey'. Perhaps the description on the menu should be clearer (pictures?) on this as Westerners are more used to drier or laksa type of noodles. I know because my husband doesn't...
Read moreMy first dining experience at Mid Valleys Restaurant since their untimely opening 3 months prior to covid (having moved from Elsternwick) and I wish I had have visited much earlier. Excellent food!!! Black pepper eye fillet steak (eye fillet was maybe also a special order as I was with a Malaysian friend who ordered), coconut prawns (will try the wasabi king prawns next I’ve heard they’re amazing), salt and pepper barramundi (which isn’t on the menu but was made as a special order). Service is terrific with the owner Lily talking us through the dishes, constantly attending to the table whist her chef husband Johnny, who has been cooking since 16 y.o., was creating superb dishes out back. I only gave the atmosphere 4 stars because we were there for lunch on a Thursday which may be unfair. Highly recommend. Locals and people from faraway please support a...
Read moreI would have given them 5 stars, but poor customer service killed it for me. Ordered takeout from them on Saturday, and when I went to collect the food, the girl on the front desk looked completely confused despite me telling her my order number and name. Then she handed me the package without even a thank you and proceeded to speak to Caucasian lady behind me, without even acknowledging me. We have been longtime customers of this restaurant, but no more. The apparent racism practiced by this restaurant is not something that went well with me. I called the owner, Lily and explained this situation and she just quickly brushed it aside like it was nothing. If you want better food and better customer service, go to Coconut House instead, at least they are polite and thankful for your business. But if you are white, Mid valleys would still be...
